What type of oil/oil filter change do you think is best for your TL? I have a 05 TL 5AT base....sorrry if this thread doesn't belong here. Mod please move if so. thanks

Despite, I use Royal Purple (5W-20) + a K&N Filter (1010 I think, if not it's 1002)

 

^i did the search engine and found tons of related threads...i'm thinking of using mobil 1 EP/m1 11o. Never used synthetic before so i'm not too familiar with synthetic products. Used to using convetional oil and changing oil and oil filter at every 3/3000 miles...with the mobil 1 set up; when do i change?....

 

okay so Mobil claims 15,000 miles before chaging oil...is that true? or you fellow TL owners change earlier....I'm guessing that the oil filter is replaced somewhere along 7-8000 miles...let me know if im headed the right direction.

 

alot of people on here change it whenever the maintenance minder reads the oil life at below 20%.

i wouldnt wait 15k miles. i love my car too much and im not that cheap.

the 3k mile oil change rule was developed by pepole who were in the business of selling motor oil....just read your owners manual and you cant go wrong....

i use just about any snythetic out there, mobil 1, valvoline powersyn, castrol synthetic ect....i change at mid 10%....or once a year which ever comes first....

 

Wait til MID hits 15% or less and then change the oil/filter with your favorite synthetic.
