Noob with some questions....
I maybe picking up a new car tomorrow and have a few question.
I know this is a Acura board but I am also looking at a G35 sedan as well. I prefer the TL, but on the used market there are more choices in my price range as far as color, options, and lower miles.
How are the TL with age/Mileage? I am a Honda guy and most of my life I have had them. I have owned about 12, and I never have had any major issues at all.
Anything to look out for?
I will most likely be getting an 04-05.
What kind of real world mileage are people seeing with them?
Any other input would be great, thanks.

Welcome to the group, maybe.
I've got an '05 Nighthawk Black Pearl (NBP) 6sp manual (6MT) and have about 108,000mi. on it. I escaped the often referenced rattles in the '04, but not the third gear problem in the 6MT. That has been nearly cured by the switch to GM Friction Modified Manual Transmission fluid.
Other than paint chips caused by following too closely, the car has performed flawlessly. I maintain by the MID, use synthetic oil and don't beat the car. Real world mileage is 25 around town and 32 on trips at 75-80mph for hours. The interior is holding up well, the leather is aging appropriately. I see no reason to not get 200-250K miles from the car. I don't use the dealer for much, but when I have, they've been great.
If it was rear wheel drive, it would be perfect.
It'll be a sad day when it goes.

I have an 04 TL with Automatic. The car is and has treated me well. I have had a few rattles that have been easily fixed by the dealer and myself. I have done services according to the MID with regular Dino oil and acura filters and it is running great. The leather in my car is wearing pretty well. I just treated it with leatherique and it looks great besides the few crinkles in it.
Reguarding the transmissions, the really early 04's had bad automatic transmissions because of a lack of oil, but a recall was issued and it was fixed. But for middle and late 04's, the transmissions are fine.
as for the 6sp, all TL's suffer from the 3rd gear popping out, acura has reformulated the transmission fluid to make it better, and as well if it still feels bad, the dealer can install and updated gear set. If you get the gear set, its probably a good time to change the clutch if it has high miles as you will save on labor.
As for MPG, I get around 23 in the city and around 35 on the highway driving 74 MPH.
The TL is a great car when it comes to buying used, there is only 2 trims, Non-navi, and Navi. There aren't any options, just accessories that you can buy from the dealership.

Yea I think we are going to keep looking and find a good deal on the TL. We will be getting an auto as well since it is for my wife.
That kind of hwy mileage is awesome, living around Atlanta everyone cruises 80-85 so we are wanting a car that gets decent mileage at the higher speeds.

I have a CR-V and I get maybe 21-23 at 80-85, but if I stay under 70 with out A/C I can get 28-30. They were just not built to cruise at high speeds.
