Well, I got upset at the trade off between lack of clarity/life or sibilants and went to my local shade tree (almost) car stereo guy and got some nice little Alpine metal button 4 ohm tweeter that fit in the stock housings. I just had them pur in stock. I have not yet tried shimming and aiming them.

Well, I don't have a SPL readily available right now, but I can hear? some improvements. The dull or sibilant high trade off is gone. I can set the treble control flat and here discrete brushed cymbals instead of mashed ones and female voices take more spacw without being sibilant. We'll see.

I talked to my sales manager and he's all worried about the tire thing and the falling prices.

What type of tweeters come stock? Are they cone tweeters? Did the tweeter covers come off without too much trouble? Did they re-install well? I've been thinking of doing this as well.

Yes, let us know! Take pics of the stock tweeters. This sounds like a painless install. Pretty easy?

I would also be interested in knowing how the stock tweeters come out...I like my highs and the stock tweeters would be easy to upgrade depending on how easy the install is.

How much are decent tweeter speaker replacements? We're looking for 4ohms ones, right? Simple solder job?

Sorry, I had to go to San Jose, then came back and Zainoed.

Pop a screw driver under the side of the little tweeter cover and pop out it comes, EASILY. the little metallic dome tweeter, about 1 1/2" says Mexico 4ohm on the back. It is glued into the little cover. You have to pop it out.

Replacements from ?company, Kenwood, Clarion and Alpine run from $60 to $90.

I got the "most expensive, most *****in ones" according to the guy. they wire screwed them in, glued them in the covers and popped 'em in for @25. It would be easy to do yourself.

Pull them out and look at them. They're small.

The Alpines are clearer but hotter. Too hot? I dunno yet. Later
