New Car and driver Test
The good news:
0-60 5.7
1/4 mile 14.4 @99MPH
Top speed 152
The bad news :
They didn't like the car because it has too much torque steer for their tastes. They spent 4 pages discussing the advantages of RWD vs FWD. Everything else was glossed over smooth ride, stereo, interior quality and so on. The last pararaph makes a little closing remark about FWD superiority in bad weather (which is important to at leat 60% of the audience since it snows regularly in 70 % of this country.I guess BMW was paying for most of the commercials this month. Of note, If you look at the 530 test the TL trounces it in essentially everything except the skid pad!!!!!!:piss2:

Its the Jan issue. They had the turanzas which they kept dissing and saying the potenzas would have been much better Why didn't they just order the HPT, I can only wonder. This article reminds me of and glowing 80's review of the Chevy Citation faster than a saab!, better handling than a jag! and so on, I think everybody can remember the Citation as one of the worse cars ever made!

Is it time for me to cancel my subscription to C & D in protest?
I'll be looking for this in the mail shortly. Which car did they test, an overused press mule??

Who cares what they think? If the people shelling out thebucks for the car are happy, thats what counts.I havent driven the 6 spd,but I didnt notice any significant torque steer with the 5spd auto. For the way this car is meant to be driven I think most buyers will be happy with the handling and if not then its time to get something else.

This is great news! If this C&D review keeps people away from the showroom then perhaps fewer will buy and prices will drop. Sure you want your car to get great reviews to validate your own opinions but if you are getting ready to buy (like me) then you don't need lots of outside factors fueling demand and driving the cost up, or perhaps I should say; keeping the street price from dropping . Hopefully Consumer Reports comes out soon with a review and says something like "it handles well with good power but the trunk is rather small and their aren't enough cup holders".

Very nice numbers. I'm assuming that they tested the 6 speed manual?
I am going to look and see if it's available online since I can't wait to go out and buy the issue. Let you know.
