Need to get new front brakes - suggestions?

hey guys

so I had dropped my car off to Shittown Acura and they told me my front brakes (brembo's because I have MT) are down to 2mm. I need to get new brakes, I have about 26k on the car, so they want like $360 for new front pads, resurfacing the rotors etc...

I see a lot on brakes after doing searches, but what do you guys recommend for pads? or should I stay with the dealer installed brembo's?

Thanks

Recently installed 1 piece Rotora slotted front and rear with Rotoras new pad on despers 05 -6MT brembo fronts- parts from Excelerate

Easy DIY and they are bedding in nicely

Also check MrHeelToe and see if the new RacingBrake rotors are available for your car
Love my HAWK HPS pads for all conditions

I just got my brakes replaced on my 2003 TLS, with 69k miles on it, so you must brake way too much or drive your car way too fast. Anyway, mine was front and back with surfacing rotors for 420. Later found out that my dad's mechanic would have done it for 250. My advice is that the dealer is a ripoff and you'd be better off finding a private mechanic who you can trust.

Damn boy, you must be pretty hard on the binders (don't worry.. I'm not raggin' on you).

Last year in the spring, I replaced my front pads on my '04 manual TL with Rotex Gold Kevlar pads. I did this because I was tired of the dusting. My TL had 25000 miles on it at the time and the stock pads were well under halfway used. While the stock units were quite good, I just could not continue to deal with the dust. The Rotex pads produce somewhere on the order of 80 to 90% less dust than do the stock pads.

i did the EBC Redstuff pads all around. Unless you have vibration in the fronts or warping I would not turn your rotors if you don't have too. The Redstuff pads can be purchased for ~$138 for the ronts and ~$73 for the rears. Replacing pads is a no brainer front and rear. You don't need to even take the calipers off the front and the rear calipers pop off with 2 screws and pop back on.

Redstuffs are ceramic pads and have excellent grab and don't fade easily. Less brake dust than semi-metallic.

Don't know about Hawks but there are a lot that use them. I like being different.

After I upgraded my 5AT brake into the Acura OEM Brembo Brake, I bought some ceramic brake with low dust from ebay. They work like a charm. I have less brake dust than my original 5AT brake. These pads run ~$60 (included shipping)each set vs. the ~$200 each set that the Acura Dealers charge and that's not including labor. It's very easy to replace the pads. They're held together by 2 pins.

I live in long island, a lot of stop and go traffic, not to mention driving in NYC all the time!
