NEED Advice on Purchase of 2005 Acura TL
Hey Guys,
First of all, i am trying to buy a project car for weekends. I went to look at a cheap Acura TL 6 Speed today. It’s a grey on black car.
The body is in pretty bad shape in the rear. Although it’s straight, there is spray paint on both rear quarters..(almost all the way up to the roof line SMH) Also, the rear arches have rust probably the size of a silver dollar on both sides. AC doesn’t work and the dash is cracked(like most) Other than that, it runs and drives great. The interior seats also seem to be in fantastic condition. The car has 175k on the clock.
The guy is looking for $2400. I’m hesitant mostly due to the body work. Open for opinions.. am I better off spending 4K on a clean TL? It’s a bit hard to find the 6 speeds.. let me know what you think guys.

If it's a project car, who cares about body work?
The body work could be part of the project
2400 is a pretty good price for a DD provided the engine is in good shape and doesn't need TB/WP work

make sure the pressure plate is good by reving the car up to 5-6K RPM and try shifting. If the clutch does not return the pressure plate will need to be replaced soon. The clutch is self adjusting so you won't know it's burnt up until it's gone. You can try the old trick of accelerating in 6th gear and see if you can get the clutch to slip easily.
