Lets here it from the Pro's!

Hey guys, my brother is looking to buy a new car. Working for Acura he can get parts and stuff for cheap so that doesnt matter but he wants to get either a 2005 Acura TL Dynamic with 100,000KM or a 2005 Honda S2000 with 18,000KM both are around the same price.

Which car would you guys get? Pro's and Con's please!

And also he is married but no children ( yet )

Either car he chooses ill be next owner of either way

TL Dynamic (Canada) is a 6MT in the US I believe. Moved to Cartalk.

around the same price for both of those cars? I am having a hard time believing that. that TL can be had in Alberta for around $20,000 and s2k for way more than that, close to 30 with km that low. that's not that close of a price.

I say go for TL

I'd go with a TL, the S2K is not that practical to have as the primary vehicle.

If he was single: s2k, hands down.

Since he's married: TL. He would have to get rid of the s2k if/when they have children, plus the TL is a much more practical daily driver anyway.

It's like comparing Apples to fried Calamari, both are good but in their own way.

Well, I would choose the S2000 if I was younger and didn't like 4-doors.

Go with the TL

TL > S2K

Being married and living in the TL will be a lot more practical and still very sporting to drive.

The S2K is good if it is a second or third car.

This is what ive been trying to tell him.

He keeps talking about going and getting a 94-96 5.0 Mustang convertible ... I told him to stick with a Acura.

The S2K will be short lived if he's married and "may" have children soon.

Stick with the TL.

if he was single, it'll be S2K FOR SURE.

but he's married..... go with TL 6MT. minimize the risk of getting a new car again when the baby gets up. lol

I would get the TL.. but if they arent planning on having kids in the next 2 years I would get an s2k.. I sold mine.. wish I never did.. I could still get away with driving a 2 seater since I dont have kids.. lol

I seriously considered the S2000 before I bought the TL but then figured if I was going to spend that type of cash I wanted to keep the car for as long as possible.

Man.. if I wasn't too tall, I SO would have jumped on a white S2K!

It was a fantastic drive when I drove my friend's S2K, but after driving it for couple hours killed my back.

It was definitely a fun experience, but no i can't have that as my DD.

-was it your lower back
after driving in an s2k seat for maybe 15 mins my lower back was killing me, not much lumbar support or something... i dunno

ummm... how can't he choose between the two? they are too different to both be able to provide the kind of car he needs IMO
i'd vote s2k tho, why not have fun while he still can

Take the TL so much better for winter as well. Brembos and 6spd? That sounds plenty fun to me!

I would say TL then. It's impractical for him to get the S2K considering he's probably gonna have family soon. It sounds to me like he's trying to hold onto his youth by getting the S2K. It's a nice weekend car but not practical as a DD. .

Compromise: He can get the TL and mod it enough to satisfy his boy racer urges.
