Navi Trip Computer

Hi, Just got my SSM 04 Acura TL last friday (LOVE IT).

I am wondering why the Navi does not have the "Trip Computer" Like the Manual Shows in the picture and my friends 04 Accord Has. If you have not seen it, it has a blue bar graph that shows the current MPG,etc and can reset itself after every fuel up automatically.

I am curious, what does the TL not have this navi feature that the lesser accord has?!?!

Will it be comming as a navi SW upgrade soon?

Thanks for any information on this feature I would love to have. MID Trip Computer is lacking IMHO.

The trip computer is in the dash display - you can show all that information there. Thats why its not in the Navi screen

MikeyK,

Thanks for the reply, but no it does not. The Accord shows you current (instant) MPG as you drive, with a bar graph, auto resets with fuels-ups and also tracks history (avg mpg).

IMHO it is better than the MID trip Computer.

Please check out an Accord with Navi and tell me what you think.

the Accord and the TSX have no MID, so its in the Navi.... the TL has a MID so its in there, provided it may not give you a fancy bar graph, the MPG is instant, you can see it change when turned to it, it levels out after a point casue the variation is minute...

I don't believe that the MPG in the MID is instant. I thought it was based on average MPG for the miles driven in the trip computer. When you reset the mileage in the trip computer (which is a separate trip computer from the A and B trip odometer), the mileage is cleared and begins a new average MPG calculation and display.

MPG in MID is NOT instant, it's AVG. TL does not have instant MPG, very unfortunately. It is also not on Navi and does not auto reset after fill up, also very unfortunately.

Is the information about this missing functionality in the TL manuals? If so, where? I do remember reading about it somewhere before purchasing my TL but don't recall where at this point. Having all of that would sure be nice to have though.

And what makes you think that instantaneous MPG variations are minute?

Instant MPG is a useless piece of data.

I think instant mpg is a nice extra feature that should be included. It's nice to see how small changes affect mpg. You can drive 60mph on a level surface and see the effect of using different gears or see how tire pressure effects mpg.

I think it would be useful.

Instant MPG is useful in determining how your driving habits, shifting, speed, etc affect MPG.

Also useful is the larger display and the auto-reset.

The point is - I paid more $ for less options?!

Oh well.

In the manual they show the menu option.

I was trying to see if _anyone_ knew why it was omitted (even if supposedly duplicated by the lesser MID version) and/or if it was going to make an appearance.

Also the Honda Navi Trip Computer is voice accessible and larger (earsier to read) The MID is NOT.

People, it was a question.... not if or why it would be useful or needed.

Thanks!

The TL will have on the next year model either 05 or 06.....The MDX has it on navi, but the RL will have it on the MID it will be the second gen MID from acura. I'm sure the TL will get it later.

Instant econ is one of my favorite trip computer features. It is fun to watch.

The Accord computer is better.

It is my hope the 05 TL will have both instant economy and a tire pressure monitor in the trip computer.

my '96 Jeep had instant MPG, and honestly its only use for me was for entertainment the first week I had the car. After that, I said to myself that it's pretty much useless. Probably why my '03 Jeep doesn't have it and just has Avg. MPG

My 97 had it, too. It was for amusement only. I loved getting 99MPG down a hill on the highway.
