Nav System Problems
Nav System is not working. Msg states Hard Drive must be reformatted, See Dealer. This happened about a year ago and system recovered and continued to work. Do I have to take it back to the dealer or is there something I can do to fix the problem. The last time I contacted the dealer they wanted $400 to fix it. This seems a bit price. Any suggestions appreciated.

Mine says the same thing...I got a new drive and it didnt do anything!!! I am talking to someone about this now - he is trying to get some inside info on these systems since Acura isnt supporting them anymore at all - if you ask me. I have been to countless dealers and none of them no a damn thing about it - pisses me off.

Nav System Problem Resolved
I posted a msg on 3/26/2004 about problem ie msg stating the hard drive had to be taken to the dealer to be reformatted. I was concerned about the various price quotes from dealerships to fix the problem. I would like to thank those who responded with some good advice.
The bottom line is that I took it to the dealership ( Crown Acura, Clearwater, Fl) and they reformatted the disk in less than 30 minutes and it's up and running again. The cost was 75.00 plus tax. What a relief. When this same problem had ocurred about a year ago a dealer in Ft Myers, Fl wanted $400 to fix it. The system corrected itself and was good for the next year. This time I checked the parts dept on a price for new hard drive....$1300.
I use the Nav System for my work and it is a real time saver. However, I think some dealerships will put a real squeeze on your wallet it you have any problems. It pays to shop around. I still don't know what caused the problem and would be interested to know if a non dealer tech could correct the problem or if Acura puts out a manual which would allow you to fix it.

Nav System Problems
Just to let you know that I took the 99TL into the dealership and they reformatted the hard drive at a cost of $75 which I consider fair. I hope you can resolve your problems.
