My Ipod solution
Got my Ipod working. I needed to send the signal from the ipod to the headunit and the way to do that was to use the head unit's input from the XM receiver. To play the ipod, I would select the XM button on the head unit and flip a switch to energize a relay that would route the signal from the Ipod to the headunit. To play the XM radio, turn off the switch which turns off the relay and the signal would route normally (by default) from the XM receiver to the headunit. There are 4 wires to cut at the XM receiver to insert the relay but other than that; it's all good. No noise. Total cost about $50 for the relay, connectors, and the icable.

I like the idea, but is it any better than an FM modulator, which doesn't involve cutting any wires?
If you ever need the stereo serviced, I wonder how Acura will treat the warranty if they find cut wires?

Yes, please host the pics somewhere there isn't a bandwith limit. I am getting the aftermarket stuff done to my car now (tint, iPod stuff, etc) and would love the best choice for my iPod.

I went the wired FM modulator route, and I'm happy with mine.
It cost about $80 for parts and labor to have it installed at a local car audio shop. There's a little switch hidden up under the dash area down to the right of the steering wheel - that turns the modulator on/off. Essentially switching between broadcast FM and the iPod.
The input was routed to the bottom armrest compartment as a stereo female RCA pair. I use the power outlet in that compartment for the charger, and plug the charger into the audio inputs.
So all I have to do is plug the charger cable into the iPod, flip the switch, and hit the FM station preset, and press Play. Sounds good, and it's pretty easy to manage.

What about compared to the "wired" FM modulators that splice (via standard plugs) into the antenna?
