My BIGGEST COMPLAINT!!!

My biggest complaint is that I'm sick of all the complainers on this website. Stop it! Just drive the darn car and try to be happy with what you got.

Moderators...Please create a whole new forum just for complainers. That way they can all commiserate, and when those of us who are deluded enough to love our cars feel a need to be bummed out about petty things like turn signal mirrors in the TSX has, and keys with built-in transmitters lin the Accord, we can visit the whiner's section. Sheeeeesh!

By the way, its one thing to bring up problems with the car (i.e. flat spotting, vibration, memory loss in the seats), but its another thing to complain and whine that the car isn't just exactly what you wish it could have been in a perfect universe. I'm out!

Couldn't agree more.

Can you imagine being an Acura customer care rep and receiving phone calls like "I've noticed that the molded texturing in the left inside door panel is slightly different than the right door. In fact there appear to be 3.5 wrinkles per square centimeter vs 3.75 wrinkles on the other side. I am outraged!"

Some complaints are legitimate and should be addressed but a lot are just people with too much time on their hands.

Another thing that bugs me is when people always refer to "when I pay this much for a car, blah blah blah". Like $33K should somehow equate to perfection. Even $100K cars have issues, hiccups and problems - they're mechanical objects, folks.

Yeah, be glad, at least you can complain from inside of your car, instead of watching it from the window of the service bay surrounded by men and women who if put next to a corpse would make the corpse look tan. ;-)

Sorry, I live in an area surrounded by BMW and Merc owners who are, well, less than warm people.

Yep, I've been amused by that for years on various car forums. Personally, I expect near-perfection at ANY price point. If I buy a $15,000 Civic, I'm not going to excuse misaligned parts, paint defects, transmission gear grinding, and that sort of thing any more than in a $35,000 TL. Expensive cars aren't any more reliable than cheap cars (given the same brand) and, in general, there isn't any more attention paid to most aspects of quality as the price goes up. (More expensive components, yes).

I do have a 2003 Civic (Japanese-built). Guess which car has better body panel alignment?

When your right

I couldn't agree more-moderators he has good point-listening to all petty complaints defeats the purpose of a site which is for the Acura enthusiast-I also agree that certain defects need to reported and discussed-but it seems of late this has been the dominant topic.

The constant mention of the price of the car 33k, 35k whatever(44k CDN)-have you ever bought a new biuld house 200k-300k-400k-you can ramble on forever about poor workmanship-its part of life. Get a grip its more than anybody else offers for the same dollars-funny how every talks about going for service but rarely complains-or updates on the service-all of my experiences with service have been very positive and thats part of the reason I buy Acura and that's part of what you pay for-if you don't think so-check out your ford or GM service-see how they treat you-I thought so!!

My biggest complaint is people who can't handle it when other people complain. The forum is for people to discuss the good AND the bad. Maybe we need a whiners section for people who whine about other people's whining.

HondaOnly...you're acting like a fool. Did you even think about what you just wrote before posting it? What a ridiculous and useless response you made! If you read my post, you would know that I am all for discussing problems on this site.

You missed the point either because you can't comprehend what you read, you didn't bother to think about what I wrote (which means you are probably a really bad listener in person as well), or you just like to be confrontational for the sake of it.

How about this HondaOnly...if you don't have anything to add to a conversation, try just keeping your mouth closed (or, keep your fingers off the keyboard). The point of this thread was clearly lost lost on you.

Nice going!

I think if anyone here is acting like a fool, it's you. If I see a thread that I think is ridiculous, I just skip it. I don't whine or ask the moderator to create new forums. By the way, how old are you?

Maybe when you have your own board you can ban people for saying anything you don't like.

People on this board should be able to express any opinion or complaints they have. If you don't like it don't read it.

Some people's kids....

Read the post carefully before u start agreeing with people. IF u read carefully, as he stated in his earlier post, he is basically complaining about some people complaining about features not in the current TL or about personal tastes about the TL that does not agree with the poster.

I personally feel those post r also valid, but that's my opinion. It's people expressing their likes and dislikes about their new ride. As with anything, people r going to have different tastes, so let them express those. What's wrong with that?

Also, "Poor workmanship" is not part of my life...speak for yourself. If everyone adopted that view, companies will have no incentive to improve their product.

If people accepted the fact that a dangerous work environment "is part of life", today we would not have the strict labor laws protecting employees today. If everyone accepted sub-par quality "as part of life" we would have defective tv's, computers, etc. more so than today.

Companies will save or cut corners and take short cuts wherever possible. It's because of the consumers who speaks out (or as some call "whiners") and demands better from companies that u enjoy your relatively reliable tv that u watch, the reliable microwave oven that u cook with and other everyday use products.

Companies have a terrible track record of monitoring themselves, so it's up to the consumers to demand better.

I think most people here are suprised...and dare I say, feel detrayed by Honda because they expected better from Honda...as u said, if they would have bought a GM, I don't think they would have felt that detrayed of suprised, that is exactly why they bought a Honda/Acura product....that's the point!!!!

There's lots of positive posts about the unique features the car has. I'm sure people reading the forum to research a possible purchase would appreciate knowing what's -not- on the car too. Some of the things people bring up as missing would be assumed to be offered on the car. This is a great way of finding out what to expect before you purchase the car instead of after. That's what these types of forums are for - exchanging information.

I agree w/ Addict that there should be FAIR coverage for both parties... the whiners (errr..um, complainers) and the happy customers...

it's perfectly ok for a person to go post in both forums at different times.. however, i think they should be separated .. b/c some days I come on here and wanna ***** out my TL-S b/c of all the crap that it puts me through, then, on other days, i love to come on here and defend how good of a value and performer it really is... etc

Good topic Addict.

i do'nt know. i kind of agree that people complain an awful lot, but i mean that's what a forum is about. it's about giving your opinions and such. so although they may get old early, some of them are valid points.

Well....whew! I expected to hear people both agree and disagree with what I had to say. Personally I think number of complaints and "rant threads" on here is out of hand, and I wanted to see what other people feel. Obviously many of you welcome all the nit picking and complaining much more than others, and clearly I fall into the latter category.

Yeah, I may be using a bit of a "shock jock" method to make my point, but that seems to be what makes people take notice these days. Of course, now that I have XM Radio, one of several cool new features in my amazing new TL which I enjoy more than any car I have ever owned , I don't have to listen to shock jocks anymore. And I'm sure you've all heard just about enough from me on this topic.

There is nothing wrong with complaining as long as it's not directly at someone or offensive. People need to vent sometimes, especially if it's about their car. If you don't like the thread, don't read it and get out.

I agree with F1 on this. ALL opinions (and read 'opinions!!') should be welcomed here. If you do not like it, go somewhere else. Or, as they say do not read the thread.

You sound like some of the people on the RX8 forum. People were 'complaining' that the engine was blowing up and had to be replaced. They said 'stop complaining it is fixed under warranty'. Now, does that not sound like a stupid statement.

The TL is a great car in my opinion, but some people do not think it is. Good for them. Some people think it is a good car but wish it had other things. Also, good for them.

And, if I start to have any problems etc, you can bet good money that it will be on this board.

Isn't it funny how the complaint threads rack up big hit counts. I would think the admins must like these kinds of threads.

I want to hear about peoples complaints, opinions, and experiences with the car so I know what to look for when I go looking for mine.

While I personally feel that all comments should be welcomed, I think there is a distinct difference between constructive complaints and simple whinning. Complaints about real issues with the TL are very helpful. Whinning about features you'd like to see on the car is simply that; whinning. Discussing wish lists can fun and entertaining. Complaining about what the TL won't do or doesn't have is a little out there. While most do it in fun. I've seen some express quite angrily that their TL doesn't have some features they think it should.

What makes it easy for me to be more accepting of these types of whinning complaints is knowing that the writer is really displaying what a fool he/she was for making such a purchase without first doing their homework about the features of the TL.

LOL,

By creating a thread about complaining, Accuraaddict just perpetuated a problem he is trying to solve.

This is a public forum, people can vent about what they don't like about this car and it is JUST AS VALID as every "rah rah" post and person who buys their car and posts pictures for everyone to say "nice ride". How much value does that add? Do you want to tell them they can't do it anymore?

Choose the threads you want to read by the subject line or first post, and ignore the rest if you aren't interested. It is actually very easy.

What is the problem with people saying what they want as long as the topic (04 TL) is valid?

Get a grip...

Ryan

The funny thing is...that addict has actually read the complaints of other people. Maybe he wants another forum for it so he can read all of them at once? I dont understand why he's mad...is it because people ARE complaining, or these threads get in his way?

Come on...

I started this thread because I thought discussing our opinions about this issue was much more interesting than reading yet another person complain that the TL doesn't have the twinkle twinkle blink blink bling bling turn signal mirrors of the TSX. By the way, park a TL next to a TSX and see which car you think has a more interesting, sculpted, sexy, detailed look to its fender-doors-quarter panel section. The TL looks awesome with the concave groove that runs the length of the car and begins and ends with lights on the front and rear. IMO turn signal mirrors would look ridiculous if added to the TL's design. The TSX has virtually nothing going on, and the turn signal adds something.

You wanna hear me whine???

I'm really pissed off at Acura for putting these pathetic Bridgstone Turanza EL42 tires on my car. The same tires that come standard on the Nissan Altima for $19,000, and Altima drivers have been complaining about for two years now. This is a tire that has the lowest cumulative consumer rating that I could find on tirerack.com The EL42 has an average rating of 2.8 (on a scale of 1-10), while practically every name brand tire that costs about the same, and is rated for a car like the TL, has an average rating of between 7.5 and 8.5. This is an utter outrage, and Acura let me down BIG TIME! To me, this tire issue is a real, tangible problem that deserves ongoing discussion and debate. Acura may actually end up doing something about this if we complain and whine enough, and thats a huge value that this website may be providing for us all.
