Maybe getting another car

Dont let the title throw you off, I am completely in love w/ my TL. And a word to the admins, please do not move this thread as I want the input of third generation TL owners. Thank you.

I've had the TL for several months now and I have completely fallen in love with it. My gf is jealous...I think...I hope. Anyways, I have looked at the TSX before I decided on the TL but eventually my parents decided on the TL for me. My dad however wants a TSX and I was wondering what inputs can you guys give me in comparison with the TL. What are some good and bad points when compared with the TL. My family has been consistent on buying Acuras and will probably never change.

Oh and for those who read my post a LONG time ago when I asked for the comparison between S500 and LS430 for my mom, the company ended up giving her the S500 (at her choice -_-) and surprise surprise... RATTLES. While the power is no where lacking, the rattles is far more harsh on the S500 than on the TL. My mom says she cant feel it but I guess that shows to prove people who do not "caress" their cars will not feel the rattles and that is why when we have polls, most do not feel anything even though they do have problems. (But I am pretty admant on the fact that Acura, in general, and by the whole, produces cars without problems and those who do, are specific cases).

So yes...please give me some input on the TSX. Thanks a lot in advance

Hey,

I currently own a TSX. I am actually thinking of trading for a TL. I have only driven the TL once, and it was an auto so I don't have as much info on the 6 spd TL as I would like. The main reasons I am looking to trade my TSX for TL are:
1. More Horsepower, I am not sure how much faster it is though.
2. I like the look of the TL more.
3. I didn't get navi in my TSX and I want it now.

I haven't decided still, I love my TSX, but I love the TL too. They are very similar in looks both in and outside the vehicle. Hopes this helps you.

Some lackings of the TSX compared to the TL are:

Missing about 70 horses
No power passenger seat.
No 5.1 surround
Less Interior room
Voice Command (Navi)
Sunroof button is in a strange location
Did I say missing about 70 horses

Other things the TL has that the TSX does not:

Hands free link.
Standard fog lamps.
Several hundred pounds.
Craptanza EL42's.
Smooth V-6.

The good,
It's tight
It has a well put together feeling
It's very toss-able
I almost bought one

The bad,
It’s not a TL
It doesn’t have the overall “visceral presence” that a TL has

When I first test drove the TSX I hadn’t even considered a TL. However, when I actually saw a TL at the dealer it was love at first site. Bottom line I took delivery on the 16th of this month.

BTW, I also considered the Honda EX 6 speed coupe. It was just to boy racer for me.

I got a TSX as a loaner while my TL was being looked at (headliner came loose). My impression on the TSX compared to my TL.

Engine is bit whiny
Cramped interior

My first impression was the sound of the door closing. The car sounded like an econo box instead of a solid built car luxury car. This is to be expected since we're not exactly comparing apples to apples. If you have the money, the TL is the way to go. If you are in the entry market, TSX will compete very well with others in the same category, just as well as the TL has in it's category.

Cassoner90...well money is not exact what my dad is worried about right now. He wants something sporty and he likes the styling of the TSX and I have to say, it really isnt bad. I think in hte few hours we have kept this thread alive, I may have changed his mind to getting another TL.

He wants anthracite w/ quartz. navi of course. two TLs in the family... haha I couldnt be mroe happy.

the TSX always seem to be the loaner car, it is awesome

I had a TSX as a loaner car too. If you search on "loaner", you'll see that when TLers had a TSX on loan, in general it was thought to be a nice car but everyone couldn't wait to get back in their TL.

I originally wanted a TSX but the salesguy got me to test drive a TL and I figured for the extra $5k or so, it was worth it. I haven't been disapointed.

the tsx is a totally different car....we test drove both tl and tsx.

the tsx does not have the heavy quality feel of the tl.

tsx engine ..4banger ...whiny..........tl deep throaty 6
seats thinner less bolstered in tsx......tl thick and cushy
like was said befor tsx doors tinny sounding like most cheaper cars.....tl doors unbelievably solid sounding

tsx interior doesn't exude luxury like the tl interior

plus all the other spec differences

the tsx is a beautiful car......but it is a step below, period.

for us I have had the small 4 banger before and the tsx while a beautiful car did still remind me of my old car....we wanted something a step up.

The biggest difference in my mind if the 70 horsepower. Once you drive the TL the TSXreally does seem underpowered, especially if money is not an issue.

Also, the TL can carry 4 people more comfortably on long trips.

Those are the reasons I picked the TL over the TSX. But mostly its the V6 and the extra horsepower.

Torque too - especially with the 6MT. You get a lot more pep out of the 3.2L @238# vs. the 2.4L @166#.

two words........four cylinder

IMO, this is reason enough to not buy a TSX. No car should have a four cylinder. As far as I am concerned the six cylinder engine in most cars are not sufficient. The TL is the exception. I want a V8 CL with AWD and everything else that the TL has.

There's one big reason why there aren't V8's in every car. It's called fuel economy. Not everyone can afford to (or wants to) pay out of their ass for gas. Although with a 4-cylinder you could actually end up using more gas if you're redlining it all the time to get the same acceleration as a 6.

I test drove a TSX for an hour last week for fun and then I drove my TL back home. The TL eats the TSX. Its ridiculous how much more power the TL has.def get the navi.

I have owned both. I traded in my TSX for my TL. It came down to the performance difference. I felt the TSX was under-powered. It was built better though. The whole Jap VS american thing. They are both great cars it just depends on what your looking for.
