Maintenance Minder Question
Maintenance Minder Question
I bought an '05 TL a few months ago. After reviewing multiple threads and my owner's manual, it seems that following the maintenance minder is the preferred maintenance track for the 3rd gen TL's vs. the standard maintenance schedule. My friend mentioned to me that he likes to get his oil changed on his 06TL in 5k intervals no matter what for peace of mind. If you continue to do this (and reset Maintenance Minder everytime), the oil life will never get down to 15% to show a service message. Based on this, would he ever know when to get the other recommended services that maintenance minder would tell you when you let it run down to 15%(A/B 2, 3, 4, 5)?

So Im still curious about the OP question. I've had my TL for 16k miles without doing any maintenance besides oil changes. Im creeping up to 44k miles, when should I get the next scheduled maintenance done? I've never seen a maintenance minder on the car.
MID question
My TL is going to be 4 years old next week with only 14K miles. Other than changing oil several times, switching to synthetic, replacing and rotating tires, I've never had anything else done. I hate that stupid MID...it's for morons. What service items are due now? I'd like to get it serviced before the warranty expires just to insure there are no problems I'll be stuck with. I've had Zero issues in 4 years so it's never at the shop. Thanks in advance!!

They are caveats for low mileage drivers that tell you to change certain items on a time interval regardless of mileage.
I wouldn't say the "MID is for Morons". More that it is for the "average" driver/user. You are FAR from average. Even the old "3-month/3,000 mile whichever comes first" maint wouldn't be appropriate for your situation.
For such an extreme case, you really need to develop your own maint schedule - working with a qualified tech if necessary.
