Looking to purchase 2006 TL - questions..
After doing the typical research before buying a new car, I think I have decided on the 2006 TL (also looked at the 2007 Camery - like the new style, but HATE the interior). But I would like some input based on what I have been reading.
I am looking at the 5 speed AT w/ NAV
Questions:
- Should I get upgraded tires instead of the factory OEM ones (I think the OEM's are Bridgestone )?
- What about the IPOD link (from what I have read this is not all that great)?
- Can I get the upgraded 18 inch rims instead of the normal for just an upgrade or do I have to purchase them outright and look at dumping the regular ones on Ebay?
- Some people complain about the seats getting worn quickly, is that true?
- Any other thoughts?
FYI, I am aware of the October (I think) release of the Type S, but can not wait till then as my current lease expires in 30 days.
Thanks!

The 2006 TL with Navi should come with Michelin tires and not the Bridgestones. No worries there. If you want to upgrade to the 18"s, make it a part of the new car order and the dealer will absorb the expenses of the change over to get the sale today rather than special order a car from the factory. Then, the take-offs are his problem and not yours.
The complaints we hear about re: seats usually have to do with wrinkling, or "butt-prints" on the driver seat. My TL is over 2 years old and doesn't have these. However, our TL seats are glove-soft perforated leather seats which are an option on most luxury cars. They are more compliant. They will stretch and shrink to take the shape of the person sitting on them. This is by design. Some people think this is "cheaper" leather. As mentioned, you pay extra for it on most marques. Thick, bumpy leather costs less.
I can't advise you on the iPod link because I don't have one and have no experience with it. I'm sure another member will soon chime in with their thoughts on this.
I hope you enjoy your new car when you get it. Make yourself at home here. Don't forget to check the 3G Garage sticky thread at the top of the index page for a wealth of information. You might also want to check "Problems and Fixes" to answer your questions in more detail. Utilize the SEARCH function for best results.
