Lock Beep

Hey Guys,

Kinda a goofy question, but is there any way to turn the volume of the beep when you lock the car (security beep)... I know you can turn it on/off, but it's just too quiet for me... sometimes I forget about it and when Im 20 feet away trying to turn it on I can't here it...

Low and behold, my OCD gets the best of me and I walk back and make it beep like 1000000 times... just to make sure

It's too quiet for everybody, but there's no way to alter it. Here's a thread from the 3G Garage about moving it so it's easier to hear.

Lock the car as soon as you close the doors and you will have no problem hearing the locks. I always see people walking 20+ feet before they lock their cars. I guess they are trying to impress people with their exotic remote locks. You are not going to impress anyone when even the cheapest cars come with remote locks now days. The TL's quiet chirp sure sounds better than the genaric horn honk grandma's Ford Tarus makes; I would not change a thing.

i agree 100%, but between school, work, and my self-run business i often have a lot of things in my hands, and i dont get a chance to lock it right away, thats all... and yea, the honking would definatly be annoying. i was just seeing if it could be a little louder thats all.

If you can't hear the beep, just look at the car. If the lights flash, it's locked.

I like the quite beep, it doesn't disturb the neighbors early in the morning.

My mom's old Toyota Camry beeps too. Sounds cheap. The honk is definitely dorky and disruptive. I think a chirp like my old Bimmer used to make sounds a lot better. It's not to impress anyone, I'd do it for me.

You know, it's not just that the beep is low, albeit loud enough for me in reasonable noise clime, and in no way as low as others report it to be, but that the range on the remote is weak. So sometimes when you think it's that you just don't hear the beep, perhaps that's because it really isn't beeping due to the fact that it hasn't received the signal from the remote. Happens to me a lot! I look at it, I'm hitting the remote, and it isn't beeping. But it also isn't flashing (taillights). Our remotes suck! Even my modded one is like that! I shouldn't have to hold it up to my chin for that trick at 20-30 ft! And I'm talking 07 switchblade! My factory one is the same that came with my 06! Beautiful car...fucked up remote...nice tradeoff! LOL!

I agree about the range - it's the poorest of any car I've owned.

Maybe the quiet beep is to make sure you're standing close enough to the car to actually set the alarm
