Leather Qualtiy

Hi guys!

I got an 06 TSX loaner today with a camel interior...and WOW...the quality of the leather is SOOO much better than my 05 TL!

The corners of the seats on the TL, as well as the leather on the side dash is smooth on the TL and after a while shows signs of fading...on teh TSX, however, it is textured leather and has a much more expensive and sturdy feel to it...I have not seen the interior of the 06 TL's but I believe they havent changed it...

This is not fair! Any ideas anyone? Perhaps the 07 TL will get this kind of treatment!

Usually, the softer and smoother the leather, the more expensive it is....hence the phrase "like butter." Think about it in terms of buying a fine leather coat/jacket; you wouldn't want it to be stiff or rough. I believe the leather in the TL is more expensive as it's nice and smooth to the touch.

That said however, it doesn't work!!! The TL leather, while being good quality (for a garment), isn't durable enough for a seat. My drivers seat looks like crap after a year and I'm having it replaced.

The seats in the RL also feel better than the TL's.

EMF213....do you have any pics of your seats? my TL is about a year old also and I just recently brought it into the dealer and they took pictures of it and said they'd show it to the service manager to see if it was abnormal wear, but i doubt they'll do anything about it. If you have pictures of your seats that I could compare mine to, that'd be great! Also, what did you say to your dealer to get them to replace your seats/leather?

More supple and soft, better the leather. I think the TL leather quality is very high. After over two years my leather is holding up good on my 04 TL. I take good care though with good leather conditioner every two months and use a good cleaner every six month.

Here is a picture;

I've been in an 06 TSX and I disagree. In fact, I had it for 2 days, so given that as time goes on, wear and tear will occur, its almost always all downhill from there.

No disrespect meant, but I think its funny that you're making judgments based on a car that's practically new compared with one in which you, from previous posts, have almost no intention of liking wholeheartedly without even the slightest bit of complaint whenever it makes a squeak or farts.

None taken...I am looking for perfection i the wrong places TLTRANCE...in any event...I just thought that the TSX leather seemed more sturdy compared to our TL's...

Thanks for the feedback...now I know...Soft is better

Cheers

Softer leather requires more care. If you dont take care of it, it will expectedly deteriorate which will be your fault.
