Wish for cupholders

Sometimes I wish the cupholder module was removable so I could wash it properly. Drinks can and will spill sometimes, often times leaving a mess that much easier to clean up if the module was removable. Mod idea?

Great idea! I haven't spilled anything in 1.5 years, but it would be easy enough to do. C'mon Acura, let's be sensible.

That was one of the first thoughts in my head when I got the car. How am I supposed to clean these when they get gunky? If they just popped out that'd be great.

I cut two discs out of a 1/8inch thich sheet of rubber(or something like it) and placed them in the bottom of the cupholders. They're removeable and give the cupholders a less plasticy feel and sound. Big mod 1$ worth of rubber from a dollar store.

A craft store might have some rubber type material but you'll find all sorts of rubber at your auto supply store. Look at the mudflaps or floor mats, pick a nice design but not too thick <1/4 inch. Then get out the scissors or box cutter and carve it up. You can get fancy and measure with a divider then use a compass to draw the circle on the sheet.

silly cup holders

I don't like the side spacer pieces. They grip the cup too tightly so the the little cardboard holders/insulators you get from the local coffee shop always gets removed from the cup.

The accord has a more elegant approach. My ONLY gripe with the TL!

Please Acura, PLEASE.... fix this!

I just wish TL had to same cupholders as Accord. TL has rubber grabbers while Accord has plastic grabbers on springs - try to take out a plastic coffee cup - few times when I had TL I almost broke a cup trying to take it out from the cup holder.

Yep, pop off the silver trim pieces, remove four screws, and out comes the cupholder
