Just making sure

Does anyone know if it is bad to shift my automatic TLS from drive to neutral whil driving at slow speeds so i can rev the car a little for show?? will it mess up the car?

Also does anyone have this problem i have:
Often times when i accelerat quickly the car stays in first couple gears a little longer than usuall, its like over reving the enging and idk why? I expect it to change gears due to the sound the car makes, and sometimes it doesnt, and it takes a little longer and doesnt shift when its supposed to. is it possible that the gears or somthing is messed up? Its not shifting incredibly later but it it notible and it only happens sometimes not always.Let me know

Thanks

In full auto mode (D), the car will change gears based on throttle position. The harder you press the pedal, the longer it'll hold the gear.

You will not "over rev" in auto. The car won't even hit the Rev Limiter (which is basically the red line on the tach). The engine management will not allow you to go past the rev limiter in any gear.

When in Manual Mode (SS), for the 3G TL-S the car will hold *all* gears until you shift. *You* have to shift to avoid the rev limiter.

Hitting the rev limiter is a waste of momentum - it basically cuts the gas momentarily. To avoid the rev limiter, in SS, shift ~300 - 500 RPM before the redline.

this is why 16 year olds shouldn't get new TL's from mum and dad.

if idont change gears in manual mode too quickly is it bad for the engine? Like if i let it rev a little higher and get the engine noise up a little louder.

This thread should just be locked and deleted. Let's save people from wasting their time. I know I just killed about a minute of my time reading this garbage just for curiousity sake. That's 1 minute that could have been better applied to other posts on Acurazine. :-(

You won't hurt anything if you shift into neutral while moving, even at highway speeds. So go for it. You may even get laid looking so cool!

To OP:

your mom and dad bought you that car to get from point A to point B and you got a TL-S. Don't worry about doing these tactics. You will eventually mess the car up. It is a A/T. If you want to learn manual do what I am doing. Buy a cheap and when i say cheap (1000$ or less) car with a M/T and learn how to use the transmission from there.

good luck.

Check your owner's manual- that willl have the answers to every question you've asked so far.

An on-line version of the manual is available in the 3G Garage here as well.

Congrats on the car, and please drive safely.
