Japanese Ingenuity..window switch illumination

The other night I noticed that the window switches were not illuminated. I seem to remember that EVERYTHING was lit at night and clearly visable. The door lock switches were lit, the 'drivers door auto' switch was lit but nothing else.

I first thought I had a problem but though it wierd that that many lights burned out already. The other day it got sort of warm outside and my rear seat passengers complained about locking the windows.. not that I intentionally did, but they were. That night I noticed all the switches were illuminated. Then I put 2&2 together

When the windows are locked out, the lights are turned off.. I'm surprised that much thought (and extra wiring) was put into the car. Maybe they say that in the book, I don't remember reading it but probably skimmed the power window section.

i dont like that big button right next to the switches. it's too easy to press by accident. and the switches for the mirrors are tiny and almost hidden.

Haha Yeahhh the night I bought my car I was sitting in it, and i was pretty disappointed that only the drivers window switch was illuminated, then i think I accidentally hit the lock switch 5 mins later and BAM the lights turned on. I was VERY impressed after that. haha

Yea that's great and everything but the really dumb thing is that even the driver cannot operate the other windows when they are locked out. I hate that because I have my V1 wired to the window lock button so I can use that as a power switch to turn it off when I'm not on the highway. If I have it off then I cannot put the other windows down.

I discovered that on my 2001 TL like 5 years ago. I was actually having other problems with my car and then I noticed the switches where not lit up and thought they burned out also.
