Jammed CDR's

I was told my my sales guy that we should not be playing burned CD's as they may get jammed in our player. Has anyone heard/experienced this problem? I was told that there are varieties of thickness in the various brands and if you happen to use one of the thicker ones then, you are screwd'. Apperently it's going to be a biatch to take them out to the point of taking it to the dealer to get it fixed. Is this even possible or he's just getting some major royalties from the record industries. If anyone has been using these CDR's without a problem, what brands have you been using? I may want to stick with the known safe ones.

I don't think it's the thickness you need to worry about. Most problem come from the cheap peel and stick labels used on them.

CDR's are fine you just want to be careful with the labels that you put on them yourself. Those labels tend to peel which will jam your in dash changer. I only use a Sharpie marker for those headed into my car.

Well, I won't rely on guys, I've been using the same cd-r brand for the last three years, and it served me good for the first 7 months after purchasing my 2003 TL-S, but guess what?
one of my burned CDs got stuck in, and i took it to the dealer and was told that the warrenty does not cover that, and i'll have to buy a new one for almost $1000 (including labor).
I went to a different dealer, and told them that i have a original CD that got jammed inside (not burned) and theychanged it under warrenty.
Bucause they don't fix them, but they replace them and send the defective on to its manufacture.
But even after getting a new ine, I still use the same burned CD, so I don't know how to help you with this but to say, if you have a 04 TL, AVOID using burned CDs, because even if the warrenty covers that, your interior WILL be scratched during the replacment process, so i won't even bother.

... just be careful if youre going to use something like "CD STOMPER" to make the stick on labels... i had a cd and it jammed my home theater system because the label wasnt stuck on right and started peeling... regular CDR or CDRW's should be fine.

where does it state CD-Rs are not acceptable? I did see a statement to avoid stick on labels in the manual.

I was just warned by my sales guy not to use any CDR's or use at your own risk. I didn't see it written any where else also.
I just wanted to get a consensus from everyone to see if there was a problem with this new DVD audio deck in the 2004 TL in respect to playing CDRs (maybe tighter tolerances, etc). Hum, it seems that it could happen to anybody as the two unlucky posters above were using stock audio syst. in their 2003 TL-S models. Ouch, if the older system cost $1000 to repair, I wonder how much this fancy pansy system is gonna cost us if it does get toasted.

, maybe if the extended warr covers the stereo, it may be worth it!
