Interior LED light strip

Well....just got a new shipment of toys today so decided to install it. Let me know what you think.

Front driver and passenger side under the dash console

Back seat

Back Trunk

Each LED strip have 15 LEDs and is around 20 inch long.
For the interior, I tap the wires to the arm rest light. So when I turn on the headlight, the interior LED will light up. The interior are blue LED so matches the instrument cluster and work well. The trunk are pure white LED. It is a little bit brighter than the stock bulb on the trunk. These are flexible and bendable. Good for doing custom audio system. I'm in the process of being a vendor here but want to test it out if anyone are interested. I have 3 different color: Blue, White or Red. Each set come in a pair and also come with an on/off switch.

Thanks!

I tap the trunk with the existing trunk light. Just postive and negative wires thats it. As for the price, I can't list it here until I am approved for being a vendor under the black market section.

I love the look even if some guys are going to scream "rice!" I can see it coming. Who cares, I like it!

I had blacklights underdash on my old BMW. Sounds cheezy and ghetto but EVERYONE whos ever seen it in person has loved them.

I have thought about doing something similar to what you have setup for some time now. I have too many other mods I want to do first though.

The great thing is the LEDs are so low profile and don't require clearance, looks to have been a swift install. Only thing is I know those strips are NOT cheap! I saw them going for ~$30 EACH on Ebay, am I right? So if you have 6 of them that really cost you!!

btw if you tap multiple lights say into a console light negative/positive like that aren't you messing with the electrical resistance? How many LEDs can you tap into one wire like that? I know that LEDs draw very little power. I'm not a expert in electrical theory but how safe is it to wire like that?

I can assure you it will be cheaper than $30. Plus you are getting a pair and it comes in a switch and what's more unique is that you can cut the strip shorter and still works.

Each of these LED strip have its own diode. So it wont effect any electrical resistance. I am currently working on a Mini cooper and putting red LED strips on both inside and outside of the car. I will work on a Scion Xb next week.

how long did it take you to install all of those lights? and how many strips total did you used including the trunk?

a couple of my friends just recently done this project but instead of usually the strip they used the big neon tube, which I think is take up alot of space and looked bulky...so if price is reasonable and install is too then I am in!

Took me like no more that 1 hour to install it. For the interior, I have to run the wire inside the carpets. Yes the old design was those neon bulb led. The new design which I got are thin strip. The thickness is no more than 1/8 of an inch. These can be flexible where you can bend these in certain area. I will sell these at $25.00 shipped.

Actually, it's not that bright I had the aperture longer so the exposure was long and there was a lot of light so in reality it is NOT very bright. I would say about 30%-40% dimmer than the overhead interior light. It wont be too obvious while you are driving. And the light is soft. The brightness is similar to the new mercedes benz S class on the door trims.

is their a chance the led's can be actuated(turned on) once a particular door opens and is it poss. to set it up that way or do they constantly stay on and are they wired into headlight system...these are obvious questions that i can prob. answer myself, just curious

Pics at night will make a camera lie a bit. Since the background is dark the light gets exaggerated. If you want a switch it's easy to wire in.

So you say that the strip can be cut and reused?? Then you have to pull out the wire leads I guess, how does that work? How can you have used only 3 kits in total? Your trunk is already using 2....Unless a set means 2 and you then the price you plan to sell at is a good deal.

Yes but you have to do some wiring switch I'm not too familiar with it. But yes there is a way to do it.

Here is how it goes. Let say you have a panel like 12 inches long and the LED strip is around 20 inches long. Just cut off the part you dont need. The part that is cut out are not usable. Each section of the LED have its own Diode in increment of 3 LED.

Here is an example of the diode and the area that can be cut.
Red are deplicted as the diode and the White are deplicted as the area that can be cut.
as long you cut after the diode section then that section are the workable LED strip.

How bright are these? I dont wan them to be too bright and a bit ricey, kind of would like footwell lighting that matches the ambient blue lighting we already have in the car.

Is that by trimming the LED strip or using the entire strip? I plan on hooking this up with my headlghts and see if i can hook it up with my doors as well so that it serves as footwell lighting upon entering the vehicle as well.

Oh and btw do you think its possible to add the backseat strips to be under the front seats so that it looks more stock?

Yes you can add the back seat strip at the back of the front seat. I just did it on the back because it look cleaner. You can have it any where you like. You can even put it under the door jam too.
