interesting...
As much as I read all these 3G vs 4G controversy....I decided to do a search...
I searched back as far as 2003 to see the remarks by 2G TL owners.
everything is very similar.
Pretty sure the 4G will look sexier and surpass the 3G...
just as the 3G has done to the 2G
and definetly what the 2G has done to the 1G
Here are a couple of links
Enjoy

I did the same search and I found some jealous 2G owners and that's about it. You can't compare the 3G's reception and the 4G. I think I would drop dead of a heart attack if any magazines used the word "sexy" to describe the 4G like they did the 3G.
The 4G is a very nice car but it will never hold a candle to the 3G in looks. It's clearly aimed at the older Buick crowd, not a hint of the sportiness and class that the 3G has. I remember seeing the 3G when it first came out and admiring the looks even when parked next to a Bimmer or Mercedes. It really stood out in a crowd and still does. The 4G blends in with the mediocrity around it.
Whether we want to admit it or not, there's usually going to be a little jealousy when a new model comes out and you're driving the old one. But when I first pulled up next to a 4G at a redlight I didn't feel like I was driving the inferior car. In other words I would rather be seen driving a 3G any day.

Burning Brakes
Note that this was also speculation. They were only going from the pictures that were available at the time. The difference now is that we've seen the 4G TL in person and many of us are still turned off by the looks. When I saw the 2G TL and 3G TL in person, I was impressed by the styling. Not the case for the 4G. However, the SH-AWD trim does look a little better.

I haven't seen the AWD version. Are they on the streets yet?

Burning Brakes
I've only seen a couple in the wild. The quad exhuast makes the back end look a little better, and the brake vents in the front look pretty good. Other than that, it looks like the FWD TL (with 19" rims IIRC)

Three Wheelin'
Some of the posts are just rants, but others have legitimate complaints. Such as the big silver knobs sticking out into the aluminum trim. Also several complaints are with the rear of the car regarding the short trunk, which personally I can understand. I liked the longer trunklid on my Acura CL. It made loading the trunk easier and I have a couple of items that fit in the cl's trunk but don't in the TL's. (not to mention how intrusive the trim in the trunk is where it covers the useless factory sub.)
for me the 2G has more of a classy luxury look with it's stretched out chassis and the 3G has a sporty look. When I see a 2G especially with a drop and wheels it just looks stretched out and chill (which works well) the 3G looks like it's ready to pounce.
The 4G I dunno... Looks like it's going for the obese look, mostly with how big and round the bumpers are. But the hood and roof lines look pretty good to me.
