anyone who has 04-06 TL installed this? I notice most of you guys who installed this r 07-08 and the site says its for 07-08.. just wondering if it will work for an 06 and if there is any difference at all between US and Canadian models in anyway (as in the whole car not just wirings) ? looks soooo much nicer with the blue leds then the ugly regular drl haha

Great write up, man...thanks for sharing. Been thinking about doing this but I'm not sure what the implications are for an 04 with the DRL module. I tried popping in the LEDs and they worked dimly...and they'd stay on with the car off...WTF.
PS, you may want to do something else to mount those resistors...they get hot as FK and will probably melt that double sided tape off. I usually tie wrap the wire coming off them on either side to something metal so it won't melt.

Thanks, but that is just a photoshopped TL, lol. I'll use a pic of my car once it gets completed this week. I'm not really sure if this kit would work on the 04-06 models. I'm kinda curious though. I mean if all you really need is a harness to get the correct power to the LED DRLs then why wouldn't it work? The resistors are only there in order to prevent the DRL light from coming on the dash, so I would assume you really wouldn't need them for the install. If you have the money laying around I guess you could always buy the kit and try it out. If it doesn't work, resell it on here. I wish I had a more concrete answer for you as to wether this would work or not.

Never heard of this issue before. Make sure he hooked up the harness correctly. The whole red in line with black deal is counterintuitive. Dont assume the mechanic knows what he is doing either.

I want to put blue in mine...
J, your car does look really mean with the Nokyas though. Nice pic too, did you edit it?

Yes sir...that was from a batch of my earlier DSLR pics...a little editing there...maybe even overdone a tad.
Thank you!
I want the white in the DRL so when I turn on my parking switchbacks it'll look like white snake eyes...but the yellows look so good and offer an entirely different look, plus, I have them wired to a reachable kill switch so i can turn them off whenever, which I do a lot.

Nah, the edit looks great. I sometimes like the idea of DRL's but then sometimes I don't. A kill switch sounds like a really good idea.

Do you have it mounted near the mirror switches?

Plus I looked again and the D2S bulbs I bought are 6k so I must have 6k switchbacks so I will be sticking with the 6k led DRL's
I do have 3k fogs though with yellow overlays. So just the top half will be matching. Will post pics in a couple weeks when its all done.

I just ordered the harness without bulbs and ordered those yellow HB3s from eBay.
I'll post pics when i get to installing them.
Also, I keep seeing these CREE LED HB3 bulbs popping up on eBay ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-9005-HB3-...ht_2974wt_1163 ) and was wondering if they're safe to run as a DRL? I don't know very much about CREE bulbs except that they're bright as fuck but get hot as fuck too.

Has anyone compared the drl hid kit from v-led to the one from ijdmtoy? V-led's is $99 vs ijdmtoy's at $65. I've been reading that it's been hit or miss with the DRL light bypass on the dash with the ijdmtoy kit but am wondering if the v-led kit is priced more because it guarantees a DRL bypass on the dash?
I've been struggling with deciding on which of the two brands to go with. Any input or advice on looks, quality, etc would be much appreciated!
I tried searching in advance of any previous discussions on this but couldn't find anything. Apologies in advance if there are. This forum is awesome...keep up the great work, Acurazine!

Hey, tried installing the harness yesterday and it did not work. I took it to a car shop and it didn't work for them either. The harness is defective. I emailed IJDM but no reply, don't have much faith in them after seeing reviews lol.
Just a quick q....is this a simple HID harness? If it is I guess I can order one from ebay for like $8....or is this a DRL specific harness?
My radio wont work either lol, anyone know where that code is?

Ok I fixed the radio. I got a new pair of blue bulbs....they are 9005 but the resistors wont connect to them. I think I got the wrong harness...no matter how hard I try it wont go in, I adjusted the prongs with my pliers and still nothing. Clearly the harness is incorrect.

You should be able to use any relayed harness to make it work. The gold pieces appear to be the resistors to allow for no light on the dash??
Just got my harness today but its raining. Will install this next week.
Waiting on my headlight housings from Acktl05.

Unfortunately both bulbs did not light up so I currently have a useless drl kit on my car. Oddly enough, there is no drl light on my dash either so I don't know what the problem is. I've installed 3 hid plug n play kits in the past on various cars so I'm fairly confident that I plugged everything correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions? Spent 60 plus dollars and three hours to be absolutely frustrated! On the bright side at least I have no more ugly Amber DRL lights during the day but I would like to have gotten my moneys worth from Ijdmtoy.
Aretardedorange, did you end up getting a replacement harness?

The biggest thing is you have to make sure the red wire is inline with the black wire when making the one connection on each side. If it is connected with the black inline with black then nothing will light up. If you've made that connection properly the only thing that seems really suspect to me is you having to shave anything down to make it fit. Something just doesn't seem right about having to do that. The only thing I had to do to modify this kit was take off the green rubber pieces so that the bulbs would fit into the connector properly.

sorry for the mini thread jack....but where and how are you guys connecting the resistors to the frame? i'm hesitant to use double sided tape, but was unable to tap the car with a drill. i'm asking because right now i have one resistor kit using a screw on the stock intake casing as a mount and i'm trying to think of where i would put it if i got a CAI. any pics would help
i'm running a jlclightings kit but the resistor set up is very similar for mounting

^I suggest not getting another CAI as the TL already has one. Just cut off the resonator if you want it more sound. Also, if you put a CAI in the 07-08s the filter will touch the fog light housing assembly...so you're going to have to figure out a way to mount it differently if you're not ok with that.
Yea, i got a CAI lol. If i had to do it again, i wouldn't of got one

I just took a dremel, cut right above the resonator and removed everything underneath i cut (i ran it like this a week before my Injen CAI came in the mail)
Downsides? None that i know of.

While the bumper was off on the passenger side I was able to drill 2 holes from the outside to inside the engine bay. I need smaller self tapping screws though. Haven't got to driver side but while battery was out I was able to drill a hole for my independent fog light relay.
Now battery is dead though and not sure if from that relay or iSimple but no ipod plugged in?? frusturating.
I also broke the mounting part of led bulb trying to push connector in with yellow/green piece removed.
I am a little disappointed at this point but will try to finish everything tomorrow as far as wiring an installing new head light housings.
Worst case I don't like DRL's anyway. No dash light would be a blessing if all else fails.

Update. I got them to work.
I finished hooking everything up. I am going to email or call ijdmtoy for a new light to replace the one I broke ( I will put broke one in pass side for now so easier to replace once I get it).
The red wire on single connector DOES need to go to the black wire on the black and red wire connector.
I had some 9006 connectors laying around from previous HID swaps so I replaced the 9005 connector or whatever ijdmtoy sent to hook up to the drl.
The 9006 has 2 slots instead of one. Make sure to correlate which side the red and black go to. Just saying.
I still have to mount the relay and the resistor boxes but I can put together the lights and bumper now. I am also using this to do the stock air box mod.
Will post pictures. It may be a week or so though before I can have everything compiled.
