i used rainx on my windows
I used rainx on my windows and it works like wonder!! When im driving all the water just goes crazy and dissappears. One problem im having though, now when i use my windshield wipers it looks like its having a hard timing wiping, and its not smooth. Its weird, has anyone had the same problem?

I had that same experience many years ago when I first tried Rain-X. Never figured out what it was, but it will go away as the Rain-X wears off. I really didnt like that, so I never used Rain-X again.

Did you wipe the first layer off of the windshield? I've had the streaking problem, but most of the time its because I didn't wipe the window down after the second coat so it was shiny.
The second reason was the wipers were dirty. Maybe just try to clean the wipers by wiping them off with a cloth with window cleaner.
I love the stuff, especially on the front windshield. Also, pick up the rainex winshield wiper fluid. Its only a dollar more, but it seems to do its job, I don't apply it more than once every few months. I know, you don't want to have to buy a whole product line, but rainex wiper fluid is an excellent de icer, especially here in the northeast.

Try Aquapel instead of Rain-X. You can find it on eBay and one application lasts much longer than Rain-X. It also doesn't impair your night vision like Rain-X does. Many great reviews and more information can be found on autopia.org.

I like RainX and what it does to my windshield. I'm probably not a good spokesperson since I live in SoCal (we get less than 6" of rain per year). When I apply the RainX, I apply in warmer (+60F) condition and make sure the stuff is completely removed after application. Also, the rain here is very gentle and light (nothing like the torential stuff out in the mid west) so I generally don't even bother using the wiper when it rains - it just beads off. If not, just drive faster.....

I drove from Niagra Falls to Pittsburgh in the rain on the highway, with a fresh application, in the absolute pouring down rain, and didn't use the windshield wipers once on the highway. Had three guys who were into cars w/me on the drive, and they were amazed.
Have to agree w/greenseed, you either love it or hate it, but most people who used it a second time that I know, who hated it the first, liked it the second. My g/f hated it, now she loves it.
Guess I'm a lot like Rainex to her.

I've used it for years. Its indispensible in areas with nasty weather like the snow belt. The wiper shudder will last a couple of days, till the wipers "even out" the surface. If you live in an arid area it is not really necessary. If the little shudder for a couple of times is too much for you I would still recommended strongly for the rest of the car to keep the other windows clear.

I always use Rain-X on the side and rear windows, never in the front one because of the chatter.
When I had my Integra back in 1987 there was an article in the Acura magazine that mentioned a mix of vinegar and water (IIRC) that you could apply to your windshield and made the wiper blades as quiet and efficient as could be. It basically had the reverse effect of Rain-X by causing the water to sheet instead of bead. I haven't tried it but I may soon as my wipers are starting to streak a little.

I've used Rain-X for the last 4 years. Love the stuff. Always clean my wiper as I'm applying the Rain-X. I've never had the chatter on the three vehicles I've used it on.
