i need a good battery

i notice the other day that i left my car turn off but with the navi running only to find out that my battery was almost dead. i want a reliable battery that won't go dead having a stock system in just ten minute. i know this is sign that my battery is about to go and i know acura battery are crap.

i'm not looking for a high peformance optima yellow top or brauli battery. just a good al around battery with better CCA

he is looking for reliable but not expensive- a difficult task
costco has good stuff, parts stores have decent stuff

No regular battery should be expected to last more than 3-4 years in a high heat- high vibration environment like the TL engine bay

How was your navi running if the car was off? Did you mean engine off, key in position I?

I have been very satisfied with the DieHard Gold. Beware, the post don't conform exactly to the cable clamps. Be sure you tighten them sufficiently. Sears installed it for me but didn't tighten the positive clamp enough....

Also, there are tons of threads on batteries. Remember, SEARCH is your friend.

The factory original battery in my '04 manual TL (built the first week of July '04) gave up the ghost two weeks ago and I replaced it with an Interstate MY-24F. This is a quality product and should serve you very well.

The yellow Everstart Maxx from Walmart is rated a Best Buy in Consumer Reports.
I've had mine for 2½ years. Works great.

Around $75.

i got one because of the headrest video monitors i got in my car drained my old battery. you will notice a difference in how the car starts with an optima

Interstate MTP(MegaTron Plus)-24 is rated number 1 by Consumer Reports for our size battery, and as stated above, it's 800CCA. They cost around $114. I just bought one a few months ago after my OEM battery crapped out. So far, so good.

SAME HERE! used to always get them after i thot they were good. I worked in the sears auto dept and within 1 yr i had to replace it 3 times!! glad it was free. I had even recommended to others and they had similar problems with them.

I'd either get the Interstate or Optima. Interstates are awesome, put one in my moms 98 grand prix gt in 03 and it lasted until fall of 09.. and replaced with another interstate! Optima i dont have exp with but heard good things

funny, i went to look in 5 places and not one person knew about the megatron battery. They only said that 24F and the megratron 24f are the same. regular 24f carries a 530CCA. One location even confirm that 24F and megatron were the same he was ready to install it to me. i grab my phone and show him that they 2 completly different batteries. He was about to rip me off plus sell it to me at the price of the megatron ($120 for the regular 24F)

Just so you know... the dealer that sold me the car said that if you leave the Navi on without the engine running the battery will be dead in 10-15 minutes. Was he just trying to fore warn me of Acura batteries being crap? yeah and I did that from personal experience too. I don't know if I had a defective battery or not, but the dealer told me exactly what would happen and it did. I'd go with Optima 800cca...

Kirkland Signature from Costco. Best battery I had so far. I had the Everstart from WalMart and it wasn't all that.

I bought the Kirkland about 2 years ago and i think it was around $60.

My friend has gone through 3 of those in 2 years. They have been having quality control issues as of late and I wouldn't recommend them right now. He wasn't the only one that has had issues that I know either.

I've ran yellow top before, pretty good battery, yet still wimpy @ cold cranks.

I'm running Exide Extreme Orbital now... best pro battery you can buy. I left my amp-on, my map light-on over night..the car cranked beautifully in the morning...

Though one time I left my amp on for 2.5 days.. the car wouldn't start, lol.. 10 seconds jump, and 10 mins running, the battery was back full power.

I have 12.6v with engine off, 13.9-14v with engine on and sub bbbblllasting...hid headlights/fogs never pulsate.

i went with autozone Duralast Gold 750CCA (24f). This is not a peformance mod and i read really good review all over the net about duralast gold been a reliable battery, almost not a single bad review on the net. i decided on this battery because of the reviews and the warranty. Autozone is the closest auto stores i have around my house withing 5 miles rage (2 close by, 4 within 10 miles). Duralast offers the 8 year warranty with 3 year replacement and 5 years exchange credit. I know if i have to replace it i won't have a hard time getting to the store.

i was really looking at BOSCH PREMIUM PLUS (pepboys) because it has 1000cca, but the more i look online i notice there were almost no reviews and the ones i found were not good at all other than (consumer report).

thank you all. i was one of those guy who would pop into my car any kind of battery (used, no name brand) without looking at the spec just so my car would turn on. Now that i have a TL i rather do things the right way to keep it well maintain.

Is it true that the battery with the older date is better than the most recent battery?

I have an Optima Red Top that is well into it's second Subaru, I highly recommend them.

As soon as needed, I will be installing one in the TL

This is one of the best, if not the best battery on the market. It is a gel cell and it's rebranded but I can't remember the brand. However, I remember it going for 50% more than what Sears sells it for.

My memory is terrible tonight, I can't remember the company but it was the largest battery manufacturer I learned this bit of info from. If you live in a somewhat normal to hot climate, get the lowest CCA that will turn the engine over ok (stock CCA) if you want it to last a long time. These are less suseptable to vibration and heat related failures.

My bettery died in like 20 min while i was trying to install my load resistors and the key was just turned forward with nothing but the interior lights (or whatever runs while the key is turned on). My radio wasn't even on but now my radio is locked and I don't have an owners manual to get the code from . Needless to say, I want a good reliable battery as well.

Was your amp on with the key in that position? My bass amp (class D) doesn't draw much with the volume low or off. But the JL audio AB amp draws a ton of current just being on but with no sound. Even my Optima has a run time of about 10 minutes which is still better than the <5 minutes on the stock battery.
