i bought my car @ 18 for graduation... dropped 10k and been paying off the rest... 43k for me at that age was a stupid move because i was struggling throughout college... going to a private university didnt help my pockets either... now im a title holder lol

my parents bought me an 02 TL for graduation/ 18th birthday/ christmas present. Technically when i was a senior in high school, the car was only 2/3rds mine. I'm incredibly thankful that they were able to buy me such a nice car, and they're happy I found a good deal on it. (bought it for 5200 out the door, and haven't had any problems since)

But currently, I'm saving up to buy a 3rd generation TL. I recently turned 19, so if all goes according to plan I should be driving it by late this year or early next year.

What comments have you heard (to those who have been bashed on for being young and driving a nice car)

got my 1st TL which was a 06 when i was 17. bought with my own money. sold that and upgraded to my TL-S again paying the difference with my own money.

i couldnt be happier with my TL-S!

I wanted to do the same! but i think im going to keep my TL, esp as a daily driver. Ill just save the money for the difference cuz I plan on getting a new car when I graduate (been saving up since i got my job last summer as a web developer!)

Got my 07 TL in Aug 2007 at the beginning of senior year of HS, at age of 17. totally baby my car still. first 2 years, it had 9k miles on it. now that I drive more, its at 24k. im 21 now.

**it was my gift for going to UCLA rather than USC (no, im not a USC hater. my...whole family is USC lol)

HAHA WHAT!?!? That is absolutely ridiculous. I pay $618 for 6 months up front! However, I do get a little discount because I am also insuring my rocket with the same insurance company (Progressive). Also, I have an excellent credit score (796), no tickets, traffic violations, or wrecks - so all in all pretty clean. $650/monthly is rough though.

Sorry man Just imagine what you could do with the other $500 month if you had normal rates

Tell me about it man, I'm from Vancouver too and it makes our TLs look like Corollas among those nicer cars.

Anyway, I'm 21 and I bought my TL three months ago..I pay for all my gas and insurance as well

I got my tl when i was 17,bought it with my own savings, most of my friends are driving mommy's benz or a beat up civic but i do have those with rich parents who are driving 5 series beamers and brand new leases. Im 18 now and its such a great feeling to be driving this car =D

Nobody cared at my high school if I drove a TL. A good majority of they students drove Mercedes, Beamer, or jacked up F-150s.
One student had a yellow 911 and some other notorious student had a Maserati.
My sister and I usually never mentioned what high school we went to or avoided the topic because it drew sour looks.
