Im 20, just bought mine a couple weeks ago. I took a year off after high school (graduated in 2007) and worked as a bus boy and now as a waiter as of 2 months ago and had been putting some money away every month for a nice car.

At the time i decided to do that i didnt know i would be getting a Tl i honestly didnt think i would be able to afford one but a month ago i noticed i had gotten up to over 8 grand in my savings alone just for the car. Figured what the hell let me go talk to my moms friend (sales woman at acura) and as soon as i said i was looking for a manual she took me into the service area and pointed to my RRP tl sitting on a lift being inspected. I was sold on the spot lol..

8k down financed with my mom co-signing payments at 170 / month cars total was 15,900. Couldnt be happier!

ballerz!!! id be careful taking it to school. 18+ with a TL. take that to ur high school and u will prolly get a ding and freak out especially if its brand new! i kno i would, so im kinda glad i didnt get a nice car so young. i got mine at 21 and yes parking in colleges is risky but not as bad as high school.

Then i think i am gonna relax with the modds till my car is paid off.

I'm almost 29. I bought my 04TL Certified when I was 25. I paid it off in 2 years and 3 months with MY OWN MONEY. No I did not get a deal for working at the dealership, in fact I lost $3000 on the deal. Some of you want to talk about it being ok to receive gifts from your rich parents. Thats crap. It's about responsibility. I think is what a few of the others have mentioned on here. You have a hot car that Mommy or Daddy bought you, and they will get you another one in a year or so. My heart go's out to rich kids, because they will never know how good it feels to receive that title in the mail marked "Paid In Full". That was one of the best moments in my life. Hard work is what it's about. Just my 2 cents.

I got my TL when I was 16, about a year and a half ago. It's not a big deal in Orlando though because a bunch of kids have nice cars. My good friends have a cts, 330i, 335, g35,and this one kid I know has a new Shelby mustang.

You young people should be grateful, I'm sure I speak for others my age w/family and other huge obligations, you're lucky and fortunate to drive such a nice car. My 1st car was a 1970 Nova w/a straight 6 that probably put out 130 hp on a real good day. Then again it cost me 600.00 in '77 oh well gas was a steal then too.

Been working since 12 (uncles business)...at 15, i had a life savings of 10,000 and bought my first car a 97 Prelude. That car got wrecked, and my parents went 50/50 on my 98 civic hatch I got for 4,000 when I was 17. Spent a lot of money on that car, it was turbocharged yadayadayada, at 18 got an intern with a federal job, and bought another civic, this time a 96 coupe to daily. Decided that I wanted to get out of the game, so I could be more wise with my money, sold the hatch, and bought my TL cash just before my 21st birthday. Traded my 96 civic for a 96 prelude and is now the current DD. I'm turning 22 in a couple months, I have 2 cars both paid off, parents paid for community college which I am thankful for, and am now house hunting. I do not come from a wealthy family, if you are wise with your money, owning a TL before 21 is not an impossible task.

To go along with this sentiment, you want your kids to have something to drive that is a) reliable and b) safe. This is my mentality, and if I can still do so by the time my daughters are able to drive, I would hope to be able to provide A and B.

...if not, they're getting a bus pass and a can of pepper spray.

No sorry buddy, my parents tought me about responsibility. I'm actually helping my Mother who is a single woman almost 60 pay all the bills in the house where she lives. This on top of my own bills. I don't need or want anyone feeling sorry for me. Life is what you make of it. You win some. You lose some. I just wish I could have donated the 3 Grand I lost to a good charity. By the way, I saw that post about somebodys first car being a 1970 nova with a strait 6. I'll take that car anyday. I helped my Dad who loves novas redo a couple of them. I love Novas.

I'm 19... 20 in half a year.
I got the car last year... 18 turning 19.

I put down 1/10th of the down payment... but I made the monthly payments for the car and insurance for a year until I moved.
Now my parents are covering the car and insurance for me since I'm on my own and out of the province [state].
Very grateful that they are helping me out.. and very grateful that they purchased the TL in 6spd [they can't drive manual.. so I'm the only one in my family who can drive it].

Im 21 bought my first car when I was 16 (1995 Toyota celica) bought it for $1,300...hooked it up spent about $2500..sold for $5000 a year later. Second car (2001 Lexus is300) bought it for $9,500....loved the car but to many tickets and too many scary events in the rain and snow. I love RWD but when I had to drive in rain or snow I was shitting myself. I made a 360 making a left turn on to RT 18 in NJ. Just from rain...anyways ball joint went bad driving home made a right turn and my front right wheel came off ...I was a street away from my house literally and the tow truck charged me $160 to tow it to my driveway. Because it was so hard to tow missing a wheel. Oh and I had over $1000 and tickets with that car lol :p yeah I'm stupid. I sold the car for $5000...and bought myself a (2006 Acura tl)..$15,000 ....68,900 miles 1 owner preowned certified 3 years or 100,000 mile warranty VSC. Bought it when I was 19 January 2009. And have loved the car ever since. A couple of issues but thank GOD I got that warranty all 3 cars were purchased by me no help from parents what so ever.

I'm no longer in that age bracket (my reflected age under my avatar is actually correct), but I had my first TL right after I turned 19 ('04 NBP 6MT). I'm almost 23, I bought my CBP 6MT TL-S in April (age 22). Both of mine I paid every expense, tax, insurance, payments, all of it on both of them (as well as my home and bills, lol). But yea, there will always be haters, just sit back and enjoy!

Darn just missed the grade. Bought mine when I was 22 and about 8 months after graduating from college, one month before I turned 23.

Paid half of it off with money I earned working shortly after I graduated, took a "loan" from my parents and paid the rest off just this October. Guess I could have gone with an auto loan but whatevs. I still ended up paying for my car in full with my own money.

edit: bought the car in Feb '11.

I'm sixteen. My parents and I split the cost of the TL as my first car.

Wow. I would never buy my kid a TL as their first car. I'm not even sure if I'd buy them a car period. At most I'd buy them a clunker. Most teenagers are too mistake-prone to be driving around a TL.
