Just purchased my 06 WDP TL with 75k for 17k on July 21st of this year. I am eighteen and turn nineteen in December. I work two jobs about SIXTY hours a week and go to school full time as an electronic engineer. I paid the down payment of 2k and pay the monthly payments plus insurance and gas and every mod I have done yet to this car. This car is in my dads name but will be refinanced soon in my name. I got my own credit card and he was my co-signer to build my credit. My credit is now sufficient enough to refinance the car on my own and before this I owned an 04 Ford F-250 Lariat, crew cab diesel. 4 inch lift 18" black wheels, 35X13.50 Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's leather led interior straight piped sounded out of this world. Also payed for that until I totaled it last November coming home from my EX girlfriends house at one in the morning when it was snowing in 2wd. Lets just say I totaled the truck and then i ended up braking up wit her too. Lost both the loves of my life and then I bought this car. Ever since joining this freaking site three months ago I have already dumped 2 grand in aftermarket stuff on this thing. The only good thing about this TL it gets 25 mpg. My truck got 13.7. If I could have the truck back over the car I would do it in a second. Just my thoughts.

If I am in a position to purchase a vehicle for my children, they can expect that. Money should NEVER measure the worth of an individual. Regardless of how much or how little they have, earned or were given.

I bought my TL when I was 20. Used my own cash. I bought and resold a lot of cars and eventually took the profits and bought the TL.
I'm proud I bought it myself as a gift from me to me. I know a lot of people I went to high school with got really nice BMWs and mercedes and other cars as gifts from their parents. Thats great for them; but I feel like I appreciate my car more cause I worked for it.
That being said, there is a reason why I wash my car weekly and wax monthly; why I park far away at grocery stores and why I check and maintain my car well; because my dollars bought it; and my dollars will be paying for any repairs. Many people I grew up with won't be doing those things because their dollars didn't buy their cars.

I agree with quanaman 100% as I also purchased my TL at the age of 20 with my own money and I must say when you purchase a car with your own money you really appreciate it 1,000,000 times more because it is something that you worked hard for and you know the amount of work that goes into getting a car like a TL. i wash my car weekly as well and everyone says i'm wash the paint off it. There is nothing wrong with parents buying a nice car for their kids but kids should understand its not their car.

Im sixteen, and my parents bought a 05 ssm for me. I love it, and even though some of my friends have brand new BMW's and Audi's, I take more pride in my car than any of them. I wash it every weekend, and clean the wheels almost daily. I wouldn't trade my car for anything. I am very fortunate to have awesome parents! Gotta love my TL!

With respect to buying a car for your kid, I'll agree partially: I think it's wrong for them not to work for it or pay for any of it.

That sir, is a gross generalization of the current caliber of today's youth.
If I am in a position to purchase a vehicle for my children, they can expect that. Money should NEVER measure the worth of an individual. Regardless of how much or how little they have, earned or were given.

Gross generalization?! You're telling me MOST teenagers are responsible kids who drive in a responsible manner?

And yes, that is my second point. We tend not to realize the value of what we own if we do not pay for it ourselves.

I got a 05 F150 Lariat when I was 16. Gas was killing me so I got a 2001 Acura CL-S after that. Two years after that I got the CL, I traded it in for my TL.
I've always worked and paid for my own cars. They have been titled under my parents name but I pay the payments. I'm very fortunate for having parents who back my decisions up. I'm leaving for school in January and won't have an income. They are making my car payments until I'm able to pay them back.

Trust me, I feel bad about it, but I need to put school as a priority. I've been working full-time since I was 16 and never gave a shit about school. Now I need to put school first so I can get a decent job and not rely on mommy and daddy to make my car payments

i also agree with Quana im 19; turning 20 in january. I been working since the minute i could get my hands on that shitty "work permit" that you need when you're underage in mass. Went from supermarkets;to body shops; now im at a dealership as a Parts Specialist. i graduated high school; and tried goin to college (paid for myself) that didnt work out lol. I've gone thru 6 cars all paid for myself thru hard work. at one point working 2 jobs at 70 hours a week. My parents give me a roof over my head; and although i wish sometimes it'd be a little easier for me. It feels good to work for nice things your own damn self. Call it the "growing up- DIY". haha
btw; cars ive owned: 97 acura cl(see avatar);99 Accord; E46 3 series BMW; 02 Lexus IS300; 98 acura CL(missed my 97); and now my TL .

21 here. Got lucky with some stock trades and made $100k as an undergraduate. Spent some of it on a reliable car (TL), some to pay off my undergraduate loans, and now spending the rest on post graduate studies.
