My '04 5AT gets 320-340 miles with my 60/40 highway/city driving.

If you're getting close to 500 BEFORE the light comes on and you haven't added a second tank (haven't seen this mod thread) please let us know how (unless it involves driving 55 and pushing the car from behind at a stop)

with bout 450 miles on the car I just started my third tank. The first two the light came on about 230 mi with city/highway driving in the Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens area of New York with some mild traffic. The communite is usually no more than 45 minutes total. I noticed the trip calculator accounts for the time, distance, and gallons for it's MPG rating...so when I'm standing on the traffic light it's counting the gas Im burning, almost makes me feel guilty about idling the engine. Hopefully I can eek out a little more...93 octane btw.

I have a pretty wide discrepancy on my '02 TL. 350 miles on a full 17 gallon tank going highway, usually 280-300 city driving. But the fuel light usually comes on with a full 2 gallons left in the tank.

I drive a Subata.

I'm not going to go into detail, but the key is to remember that the MID information about miles to empty is, and by nature has to be, an estimate based on your recent driving. You could be cruising along getting 30 mpg, then get slammed to a stop in a huge traffic jam, in which case your mileage would drop big-time. Conversely, you could be getting bad mileage in a traffic jam, then get past the problem and see your fuel economy improve. The MID estimates on the conservative side so that nobody can squawk, "Hey, my MID said I had 100 miles to empty but I ran out of gas."

My car is still pretty new so I am taking it easy on the driving. But so far I have been filling it up at around 240miles and the gas light hasn't come on yet. Only have 900miles on the car.
But I have to say it's a LOT better then my HEMI quad cab Ram that was only getting 11miles to the gallon. Glad I traded that in!!!

I believe someone tested the TL from overspill to bone dry and the tank holds something like 19 gallons.
19 gallons x 35 MPG (mileage at ~55Mph on 6MT) = 665 miles per tank!! Now that would be interesting to confirm. Anyone wants to volunteer?
Of course I would shoot myself first, before I would drive 10/11 hours non-stop at 55Mph

I drive 70% hwy and 30% city. My '04 TL does 11 L / 100 km. I normally fill up gas as soon as the light turns on and I normally put in around 45 L. When the light turns on, the MID shows somewhere between 400 to 425 km.
I'm happy with my car's gas consumption!
Cheers!

I commute 40 miles each way, and usually don't do much else until the weekend. So my tanks alternate...360 miles for pure highway, 320+ for adding personal short errands in the city.
I fill up once the meter tells me I have about 30 miles left of driving. At the highest octane, it's about $48 a tank.

I have reached the best MPG ever 2 weeks ago driving back from London, Ontario (Canada) to Prevost, Quebec.
Filled the car up before leaving London and had a few stops along the way.
Filled the tank at destination after getting the low gas warning light in stop and go traffic on Highways around Montreal.
This was accomplished with the car having 28,000 Km, a 2 week old fresh engine air filter of OEM design, A/C On and an average speed of around 120 Km/Hour.
I travelled 757kilometres and it required 51.6 Litres of gas to fill at destination.
For our Canadian Friends, this is 6.82 Litres per 100 Km.
1 Kilometre = 0.6214 miles
In Imperial Measures (Imperial Gallons = 160 ounces or 4.546 Litres)
757Km = 470.3998 miles / 11.35 gallons = 41.4 miles per Imperial Gallon
In US Gallons (128 ounces or 3.7854118 Litres)
470.3998 miles / 13.631 US Gallons = 34.5 miles per gallon
My average fuel consumption is 9.32 Litres per 100 Km
30.3 Miles per Imp. Gallon
or
25.2 Miles per US gallon
Best regards from Montreal

I made 490 on a trip to Canada from NY some time ago
Now in NY I drive in SS mode all the time and can make only 13-15 mpg.

I went to Vegas and back on a tank which is about 520 miles. I purposely pushed it. Topped it off. Aired the tires to 42psi. Drove 72mph which is where mine seems to get the best mileage. I only had to break cruise one time on the way up there and didn't stop at all for food or bathroom. Parked the car and didn't drive it again until I left Vegas. This was pushing it but even with the fuel light on and the computer telling me I had 2 miles to go, it only held 14.7 gallons. There's a pretty big altitude change and I took it real easy on the steep parts, and coasted for most of the downhill which made the miles to empty count backwards.
