How many KM's/Miles did your TL have...

....when you picked it up from the Dealership?

When I bought my Prelude from Honda the salesman called me and said that there was a Prelude in Ontario that they could get for me but it had 14km's on it. He said "You just paid 30grand for a car and I don't want to give you one with 14km's on it. If you wait 2 weeks I'll get you one off a boat from Japan and it'll have 2-4km's on it."

So I waited.

I asked Acura not to give me a car via a dealer trade, instead get me one from Ohio and I'll wait the extra time. My car's in and I'm not sure how they got it but I'm wondering about you guys. How much distance had your car travelled before you picked it up?

My TL had 12 miles on it. The salesperson and you are being ridiculous. Depending how far the boat is from the parking spot at entry and disembarkment, miles on the car will vary. A few miles on a car won't hurt it.

The most problem free car I ever owned was a Nissan Sentra that I bought with 600+ miles on it. I bought it late in the year and the exact car I wanted had to be driven to my dealer and traded. When I say problem-free, I mean I changed the oil and rotated the tires. Nothing ever went wrong with the car in the 3 years I owned it.

You really need a few miles so they at least test it and make sure everything is working. I would rather they do a thorough test so I don't have to drag it back in the first week because something was missed.

Ouch, and a repost too!

Yeah, I guess I'm just kinda anal that way. I'd like to break in the car my way and not have a car jockey hammerin' on the gas before there's 20km's on it.

But then even on the Prelude board there were people who said that other's babied their cars too much to start and that they raced on the way home from the dealership!

I dunno if I'd do that. But after the break in and first oil change I think my Prelude saw redline daily for four wonderful years.

Peace of mind for me I guess.

Mine had 2 miles on it (as well as all the plastic) - I practically bought it off the back of the delivery truck. It was up to 10 miles by the time the PDI was done and I drove it off the lot.

Mine had 12 miles on it which included the salesman driving it to Les Schawb for tires and the tinters for window tint.

Mine had 40km on it because the dealer is about 35km away and he delivered it to my office. I went to him because he came highly recommended and gave me a bit of a discount plus through in the rear mud flaps.
