How is the front license bracket attached?

Has anyone removed the front plate bracket off of their bumper? If so, how is it attached? Can it be removed with a screw driver or a hex driver?

I'm picking up my TL in a week and the dealer told me that have to mount the plate bracket by law. I don't fee like fighting them so I figure I'll just pull it after I leave the dealership until I get the car blear-bra'd. What tool should I take when I pick up the car to take the bracket off?

Thanks,

-phil

And don't forget to ask for the plugs. They conceal the holes on the bumper.

The plugs should be in your glove box with the security/id card.

My plugs weren't in the glove box..I'm keeping my front plate on as its a Ca law...dont want to give a cop a reason to pull me over! Definately looks better w/o though!

I would have the salesperson physically show them to you and not all dealers will put them in the car. Just to be on the safe side, ask them. After all it is part of the original equipment and you did pay for it.

Thanks for the input everyone. I've already told the saleman to make sure that I get the front plate plugs. He included it in the confirmation email so I'm pretty sure that'll be taken care of. I also asked him to have the detail shop put felt on the back of the front license frame before they install it to prevent scratching the paint. He said he'd see to it presonally. I'm planning on pulling off the plate frame as soon as I drive off the dealer's lot but it's better safe than sorry.

I'll get the clear bra installed the day after I pick it up but unfortunately it's a 40 mile drive home from the dealer on Houston highways so I'm a little aprehensive about getting rock chips before I get the clar bra put on.

Just to be perfectly clear, you will have to remove the Dealer Plateframe and paper plate before you can see the scrws that hold the plate mount to the bumper. I remember this coming up in a previous thread a while back. So its either 2 for the plate frame and 2 for the mount, or 4+2
