Center console button lights

Have had our 05 TL w/Navi for about 2 weeks now and love it. But am experiencing problems with the climate control buttons and the buttons just below the navi screen (menu, setup, audio, etc.). At night (or when the headlights are on) the buttons aren't lighting up. When we first got the car they lit up just fine. Over the last 2 weeks they would intermittently not light up when using keyfob 2. Now they have stopped working for either key. Not sure if we have somehow changed a setting somewhere or not. We've tried adjusted the instrument panel brightness without luck. The other radio buttons below the navi screen work fine as do the ones on the steering wheel and the instrument panel itself. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds to me like some kind of loose circuit or something. If, even when the headlights are on and the dash brightness is set to max (just hit the Max button), they don't light up, it's definitely not a setting that isn't right. I think you should bring your TL to the dealership and have them look at it -- better than you taking it apart and fishing around in there.

The TSX has a Bulletin for the audio and climate button not lighting up.
They replace the whole unit.
Hope the TL isn't having the same problem.
Take it to the dealer, but make sure the problem is happening when you take it in, otherwise they will see nothing wrong.

Thanks. The lights work sometimes and sometimes they don't. Also noticed that the MID (multi-informational display) sometimes appears to refresh (goes dim for a second, then relights). Hadn't noticed that before and am not sure if that's normal. Is it?

Anyone have good things to say about any particular Seattle/Tacoma area dealer service departments? We bought the car in Oregon (much better price).

Like you, I bought in OR and have not needed any service yet. It sounds like you will need dealer attention before I will. Depending on your location, you might try Hinshaws in Fife. I could not deal effectively with their sales dept., but service might be okay. They are the closest to me.

Hinshaw's is the closest to me too. You're right about their sales dept. Could not deal with them at all. Frustrated me to no end! So am a little leary of their service dept. The couple of times that I had to deal with the Honda dealer in Fife (I think that's Hinshaw's too) was ok though. The Tukwila Acura dealer was pleasant and I like their emails re: service/loaner cars etc...but not sure how they would be since we bought the car in Eugene Is there somewhere on the 'net where you can see customer service ratings for service depts?

Well, there are a few such sites, but I have never found any that were satisfactory to the extent that I would place any reliance on them. You might try www.dealerrater.com but they mix sales with service and have too few anecdotal entries to be reliable. Since neither you nor I have any past history with Acura dealers in this geographic area, perhaps others on this website could come to our rescue. CALLING ALL WASHINGTON STATE ACURA OWNERS.......HELP !!!!!!

Mine does the same thing. A full screen repaint.

That really strange, I'll have to ask about that MID going blank.
