How does the 07 TL handles in the snow?

Anyone ever driven their 04-08 TL on the snow before? I am heading to Reno at the end of this month and worry about how the TL handles on the snow. This will be my first time driving on the snow if there's any. Am i at the wrong page? its a part of performance too :-D I have a 07 TL

Snow was one of the reasons I got the TL over any of the other RWD cars I cross shopped. We get a lot of snow and ice here. FWD isn't as much fun to drive, but I can't afford to have a summer and winter car, so here I am.

MN driver here. We see snow for a solid 5months or so..

Two winters under my belt with the TL.

I give it a grade 6/10 in overall snow conditions.
4/10 in snow falls greater than 2-3"

Get snow tires and you will have zero problems. Use all season tires expect headaches

all-seasons are good to a point, but after any major snow storm driving gets scary. winter tires FTW!

No dont get snow chains thats not good for your car anyway I think that most owners manuals say not to do that anyway.
The OEM Michelins will get you through the snow BUT a spare set of winter wheels and tires would be optimal.

The OE tires on my TL-S are horrible in the snow. Even in something like a 1/2 inch of the white stuff, they have very little grip.

Dump the OE tires and get a good set of all seasons, the stock tires are flat out dangerous in anything but a dusting of snow.

Yeah i had some toyo proxies 4 last winter and wow what a joke.

Haha i remember one day i was going up this big hill maybe a 45 degree incline, people were going so damn slow making it even worse for me. I think on a 3 block stretch i spent 20 minutes spinning my tires sliding toward the curb.

It might of just been the proxy 4 snow performance that was lacking i dont know. But here in Michigan we get a good amount of snow every year and 8 inch wide tires aren't ideal in snow for any 4 door sedan in my opinion.

650$ will buy you good snow tires and steel rims so for me it is a now brainer. I went with 205/60 on 16 steel rims and am looking forward to see how they perform compared to all seasons on stock rims. I think if you live in a place where it snows 4+ months of the year winter tires will pay for themselves.

Snow performance depends more on tires than on the car.

A corvette with snow tires would be easier to drive on snow/ice than a TL with all-seasons.

I drove my TL without snow tires last winter and found the michelin mxm4's grip to be completely inadequate. Slipping and sliding everywhere, almost got in a few accidents.

If you are seriously going to drive in the snow for an extended period, get snow tires. Michelin Pilots were embarrassing brand new on my TL. Handled like absolute crap in the snow.

The Michelin Marketing staff should be put in jail for calling them All Seasons. When they were not spinning in place, they were hydroplaning. Look at the tread and that will tell you all you need to know. Good dry weather tire though.

Get a set of winter tires - cheaper than insurance deductible and they work great.

I understand that all seasons snow tires are helpful but this might be the first and the last time i ever drive on the snow. I will be driving to Reno (downtown) on the 26th of November and NOT even sure if it'll be snowing. What are my best options here? Do i have any choice at all ? The tread on my current stock michelin tires are ... okay.

One day and a possibility of snow? Just drive carefully. I thought we were talking about a whole winter here, not a quick visit...

Yea - just gonna drive there on the 26th morning around 9 from San Francisco and back the next day. I am just afraid that the tire chains are mandatory when i am in Reno. ahhh hope it'll be a good day that day. :-D and i apologize for the confusion.

I have stock tires and had some minor issues with a pretty good layer of snow last year. In the market for some good all weather tires. Any suggestions? **Not enough snow where I live to put snow tires on for the winter. Nor do I want to have to put them on for jst a week to 10 days during the winter.

I bought some Michelin X-ice Xi2 last year and was really pleased. I needed something that could handle more miles so this is the one i chose. I am excited to give them another try this year.

Maybe the Nokian WRG2? They're the only all-season tires that have the severe snow rating symbol.

Drive a CL-S here and NEVER had a problem in the snow. I am also from MN. Don't drive like a mad man and you should not have a problem. If you are down near the limits of your treadlife I would definately replace the tires before the snow hits.

And this is driving on a set of Arizonian Silver Edition Plus tires that the so called tire expert in here says are "dangerous" lol..

problem with people in winter is they don't drive conservatively and wonder why they are kissing walls and stuck in ditches....
