Note that the learn button on your home unit (if you have a learn button) will be on the box containing the motor (the one that typically hangs from the ceiling). My father has a TSX and went two years thinking his opener wouldn't work with this feature, until I replaced my garage door opener this year and discovered that his was the same way as my new one!

The owners manual covers it pretty good. Just slow down and give it a good read. Main thing is you need to know what type of opener you have (rolling code or not).

I had to do the full reset on mine before it would start programming.

Man, I'm really wondering if anyone even reads these posts before they decide to chime in. If you read the second sentence he said he doesn't have the owners manual.

If you haven't found it already, and don't want to bother searching. Just push and hold the homelink button (in car) that you want to use while at the same time pushing and holding the open button on the remote to the garage door. Keep the garage remote close to the homelink. hold both units for 10-30 seconds until the light above the homelink button (in car) starts blinking. DONE!

If you have a rolling code garage door opener than it's a little different.

Yep, like someone stated above if you have a rolling code you need to find the LEARN button on your overhead door unit. Once you hit the learn button you have probably 30 seconds to go in and hold down the button in your car that you want to use. The instructions in the manual do work, even I did it!

Reading is fundamental...

If you have rolling code, it's kind of a pain. I don't remember exactly what to do as I did it over 2 years ago, but I remember it taking longer than it should have. EDIT: the above poster is correct as to how to do it with rolling code...what a pain.

You have to hold 1 and 3 at the same time to clear it first then when the light flashes fast its cleared, then there should be a learn button on your garage door opener push it and go hold down the button you want to preset if that doesn't work try doing the same thing again but use the door opener transmitter button at the same time you hold the button you want to program but try it without it first. let me know if it works

And I'm an IDIOT

Even I got it to work first time. Go to www.homelink.com and it's all there. The posts here that describe the process are also dead on correct.

On my door opener the receiver has been replaced a couple of times, and is separate from the door opener itself. What I had to do was open the receiver, push the learn button, race back to the car and push the homelink button. Then it worked.

That's what I had to do when I had a completely new unit installed back in March. Any rolling code opener will most likely require this procedure. To the extent someone is available to help out, it might eliminate the need for running back to the car.

The site directions here were excellent. The owners manual made me crazy.
