Unhappy How do you get rid of scratches???

I have a NBP TL with a few scratches in the hood, thanks to my local hauling companies. Is there anyway to get rid of these scratches on my own, or should I take it in to a professional? Thanks for all the help.

Hauling Company??? You mean the company who delivered you car to dealer???

My car arrived with couple of scratches, which I pointed out to dealer that day and am getting them fixed this week at dealer.

It really just depends on how deep the scratches are. For minor scratches and swirls, you can use a polishing agent like Meguiars #83 DACP or ScratchX. For deeper scratches, might just be easier to take it to a pro.

Also, swirls and light scratches are difficult to take out just by hand (although it can be done.) The proper tool is a PC (Porter Cable) unit but that will set you back about $150.

when you use products like scratchX it will not "remove" the scratch just fill in the scratch and hide it. it works well and is a cheap and easy solution. how deep are the scratches?

Exactly. Likewise, if you just want to 'hide' minor scratches, NXT will do that as well as will waxes. That's why you can send in your car to be detailed and if they suck, it will look great when you get the car back and then horrible after a couple of washes and the wax has been washed off.

The scratches aren't that deep...very cosmetic. It just pains me to look at them. Where does one go to get scratches removed professionally?

In regards to hauling, I am referring to dump trucks filled with trash, rock, concrete, etc.

Just look up automotive detailing in the yellow pages for your area. Some body shops will do detail work as well.

Yeah those trucks suck. I try to stay way behind them even if it means going too slow. You try to pass quickly, guaranteed you get a fuckin rock or piece of metal trash hitting your sweet ride.

Arrrgh.

Years ago had dump truck in front of me, a clump of frozen dirt dropped off, bounced under my car and put a hole in my gas tank!!!! Since then always stay way far back from any kind of truck carrying any kind of material, dirt, pipes whatever. That was the first of 2 freaky accidents I had involving trucks.
