Does the felt just pull out? And you unscrew it?

There are like 10 plastic ones that you screw out, one metal one underneath handle, two circular rubber pieces that you unscrew, and two rubber pieces you push over and pull out. Once you get the lining off, you will see the dampener.

If it was only that easy. I've only run across instructions that require complete removal of the rear seat.

The frickin' dealer instructions also promote removal of the rear seat. Your method sounds a lot easier. Have you tried this way yourself?

Igor13's instructions are on target. The rear seat has nothing to do with it. There is a manual release for the trunk lid and it is sort of hidden by the rear seat, but it is even accessible from the skipass, reaching your arm in that is.
I haven't taken the damper itself out but I uninstalled the cover referenced without any instructions. It is literally that simple. The helper handle is held on with a phillips head screw, but you can actually pull the liner around it and leave it attached, if you choose to.

do you mean the springs for the trunk? If yes, be careful, they can break the bones in your hands because of the amount of tension they have. Removal of the liner on the trunk lid and the rear seats are in the 3G garage, take a look in there!

^ He is 100% correct. If that's what you're talking about taking out, quit now. The trunk springs have to be the hardest, most aggravating uninstall/install I've ever done on any car. They scare you to death with the tension they have.
