Hit a Deer today!!

I hit a deer on the way home from work today. No major damange. However, the front bumper - which is one huge piece of plastic - probably needs to be replaced. Anyone had to do this yet and what was the cost?

No major damage? Lucky. How fast were you going, my friends car was totaled by a deer, blew the hole front end apart and blood sprayed through the windshield into the car. I am eager to see pics, and how is the deer doing?

MMMM... venison

Well, I had to change the rear bumper after my accident. It sucked b/c replacement bumpers don't come painted by manufacturer. The shop will paint it so find a good one that knows how to color match.

If you need to replace the bumper, it will probably cost you about $500 (parts, paint, labor). I don't see it being any less than than.

I had to replace my front bumper last fall when some dumb cell-phone using bitch threw her car in reverse without looking and clouted the corner of the bumper (cracked it). It was around $550 or so. The bumper ships with no paint on it, so painting it drives up the cost a bit. Your dealer will probably tell you to contact a body shop yourself, and that makes sense--most dealers do not have on-site paint shops, so they'd just be acting as a middleman and that's a pain for you, and for them, because if there's a problem it's easier for you to deal directly with the body shop.

I got a few estimates today. Two places said they could repair it for $520-$575. To replace it was a few hundred more dollars. Seems like a repair is the way to go.
