Highway racing

If it wasn't a early '70's to early '90's smog restricted car he was not racing you. From about 1991 on they were low 13 second cars.
BTW racing on public streets is not very smart. Try a track day to see how fast you car really is.

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean "race" race. Just highway shenanigans.
I'm sure u guys occasionally have fun with the TL as well, otherwise you may have wanted to get a more fuel efficient car that doesn't have 280-305hp readily available.
Also.. track days with your $38-46k 2 ton luxury sedan TL? hmm..

Sorry man, just not my thing. A lot of us had street racing backgrounds probably 10+ years ago when we were younger less mature (ie, teenage years).
The fact we're pushing 30 and talking about high speed contests really is a shock.

Also secondly a Corvette? Really? A 3800+ car with 305HP pulling on a corvette with a V8 that's made of plastic...

While I understand that the typical demographic that drives this car is not likely to race another car on the road OR at the track, this forum would be a lot more interesting if they did.
Also, this nonsense of people coming into a thread like this spouting things about high speed racing on public roads is ridiculous. That fact is that unless the poster specifies what speeds were attained, there is no reason to assume that it wasn't a race from 40 mph to 70 mph on the highway.
If i'm racing it's always within a reasonable deviation from the limit. Who says all races have to go over the speed limit. It's those same ignorant people that think top speed means anything - acceleration is what matters and you can test that at any speed range.
All of that said, reckless driving should always be called out. Putting other people's lives at risk for quick thrill is beyond stupid.

racing on the BQE and FDR, two of the most potholed roads in the US. real smart. i hope you blow a tire and crash like the guy in the LR3 that flew off the FDR and landed on a taxi cab on the street below

Btw. The FDR is pothole free from the seaport all the way up to Spring....don't really recall seeing any potholes on the BQE where I normally drive.

I own a corvette, and have owned a TL and CL... the corvette does rings around both. So unless you're running a giant 78mm turbo w/ internals and huge injectors, I highly doubt you "smoked" a corvette.

Time out! There's no need to hope for anything, such as me blowing a tire and flying over cars. Lets keep this civilized. When I stated term race, I did not mean reckless, swerving in and out traffic driving while doing 80 MPH. No friggin' way. I've accomplish a lot in my life and would be foolish to give it all up because of reckless driving. I initially should have made this clear, as most of you think I am an insane driver.

True enough, one should not wish for something bad to happen. However potholes or not, the BQE and FDR are not conducive to high speed driving. Indeed, I've done my share of spirited driving throughout the city over the years and as one gets older, you learn to disengage from any street runs on those roads quickly.
All that said, go easy out there: for every one or two racers out on the roads, there're tons of other folks who simply want to get from point A to point B in one piece and not wind up as a statistic in street racing collateral damage.

Op, when you say older do you mean C4 or C5? Or even older then that? Like a stingray? If its a C4(91 or newer) then he was just letting you go WOT while he stayed sucked to your bumper! I also find it funny that so many people that I've never seen post up in this section has so much to say about racing and how bad it is... If the kid wants to brag about street racing then let him brag! Not like anything said here will change what he does...

I'm also surprised so many people think every Corvette ever made has the speed of a heat seeking land missile. Guess they don't know about the "dark years". 3 and 4G TL's (even the 5AT's) will pull on pretty much any stock Vette from ~'73-'86 with ease.

I do all the time. I have people in there 2 door coups and other cars like, come flying past me on the interstate and Ill catch up with em, just fooling around.
Although I am 16 and very dumb, so

I'm guessing this thread started in the 4G forums and was moved here before the guy was burned at the stake.

as the older ones are nothing to brag about
