Question HID Headlight Upgrade

I LOVE my headlights but I want them brighter... I'm addicted... I love how when I'm flying up the road at night people move because they can't help but notice me. I would like to get the brightest light from my headlights as possible. Does anyone know if this can be done by buying new bulbs or do i need a new kit? any recommendations and pictures would be awesome. I have an '05 TL

Any brighter and you're illegal.
But, if you'd like to break the law, there are options out there. I don't have any specifics because I think it would be obnoxious.

Before you do this, make sure you learn what the housing can support. I've seen numerous melted headlight housings and/or wires, etc. because people tried this.

the stock ones are pretty much the brightest. the rated output of a 4300K bulb(stock) is about 3200 lumens. when you go higher up in the kelvin scale the lumens drop. the only real way to get the lights to be brighter is to change the projectors for something else and concentrate the light. it's kind of light when you focus a mag light. the intensity will go up but the area it lights up will decrease. you can look for hid's that run more wattage but usually those are not for automotive use and will not be plug and play.

Swapping bulbs will only change the color/lumens... illegal or not, i think it's inconsiderate to make the headlights any brighter - it'll bother the piss out of oncoming traffic and the drivers in front of you.

could ya possibly reconsider? the TL's projector HIDs are really as bright as they can be...

If you're in the mood to be an ass to the other drivers, your car is already equipped with a free option: Drive with your highbeams on all the time. Same bulbs, less shutter.

Cut this guy some slack. He didnt ask about if you thought it was mean or not, he asked where the hell he can get some. There are a lot of empty country roads in Texas, it may be nice to light up a lot more.

When he said, "I love how when I'm flying up the road at night people move because they can't help but notice me," I didn't get the image of empty country roads in Texas.

HID fogs?

I don't know how practical it would be, but you can always upgrade your fog lights to HID. I haven't seen it in person on a TL, but I've seen it done on Escalades and it gives the lighting a more uniform look. There might be others on the forum that might have tried it.

It might be a bit overwhelming, but it will give you a wider field.

Just a thought.

i dont think its a really big deal of having bright lights..i for one like having bright lights to see more whats around me..and other driver to see me coming...but yeha its really hard to have bright ass lights now since there is alot of car eqipped wid HID now...so most car are pretty much bright...but if u wnat bright lights just get hid fogs and keep your stock hids which is bright already..plus its shifts color with them projector....so yeah dont worry about other people thinking that its too bright as long as you like it den i say go for it...

How did Texas come into this thread? If you want to be seen and you don't mind pissing people off, just drive with the brights on all the time. You'll get noticed.

Easiest way to get the headlights brighter is to change your ballast to 50w ballasts. Your bulbs will not last as long but they will be brighter.
