Help with purchase

Hey guys,

I'm currently in pittsburgh right now and have a budget of exactly 30k...probably at most 31-31.5...I really want to get a TL AT with nav..so should I be looking at the 05 used? or maybe try 04? Please help me out and suggest some dealers that I could go to..Possibly in new jersey or washington or ohio..basically anywhere in driving distance..thanks!

You should easily be able to get the an 05 leftover for that. I just purchased my 06 Navi/Auto for 33,245 and I didn't even haggle. Quick transcript:

Me: How much are you selling the 06 TL Auto w/Navi for?
Salesguy: We are taking 500 off right now. (points to board)
Me: off MSRP? (chuckle)
Me: Well, I know the invoice is 32,819 and I know you guys have a holdback built into that for your profits. Can I speak to somebody about price?
Salesguy: Hold on, I'll bring out the manager...
Salesguy: (1 min passes) If we can do it for invoice, will you buy it today?
Me: Sure.
Salesguy: Ok, that is 33,245 after destination. It is not included in the invoice (BS)
Me: Oh, ok. (I was tired and didn't feel like haggling for another 5 or 6 hundred plus the color combo I wanted wasn't even there and they only ordered one of them.)

Moral of the story: Should be pretty easy to get an 05 leftover for 31,500 but if it was me I would borrow a grand from a friend to have an 06. Couple of new features too.

Sorry, forgot about the taxes. If it were me, I would just buy the car in another state, get an 05 leftover for 31,500 and wait a week or two to pay the sales tax. But thats me. Good luck!

i've got a non-nav. If i had the choice of non nav new, or 1 year used for 3k less to get the nav, without a doubt i would get the used nav. of course i'm kind of an idiot and get lost a lot and I live in a city, so that's just my preference.

You can consider a new '06 TSX with nav for $30-$31k OTD. I doubt you can afford the TL with $30-$31k if you want the nav. Maybe an used '04? But those have the most problems being a first year model.

Dude good luck getting a new 05 TL with Navi for 30k, I think you might get it down to 31500 or 32k but anything lower that I think the dealer would have to be pretty desperate to dump his 05 stock

I just meant use the money to purchase the car, use the transfer period (7 work days in MA) and pay the taxes next week. Thats how I always do my bike purchases. I buy the bike new in PA for a substantial savings, ride it with my old plates under the transfer law (or w/e its called) then register it the next week with my next check.

I don't think you can bypass paying tax unless you move to the state that doesn't charge car sales tax. When you register the plate in your state, you gonna have to pay tax regardless? Please correct me if I am wrong...so I can take the bus to Oklahoma and get my TSX.

It would be less than 30k, he wants that out the door. You forget taxes.

05 TSX with Nav should go for around 28,000 or so...that would save you some cash too

You would rather buy a used car with far less warranty and an uncertain history than a new one w/o navigation?

I got a new '05 w/o nav 3 months ago for 30,200 plus tax in NYS. I use my Garmin 2610 when I need it (paid $600 about 2 yrs ago) and can also use it in my other car, rentals, etc. It is also less expensive to update than the Acura one is. New Garmins also include live traffic, which is also available on the RL, but not the TL.

But anyway, I hope you find something you are happy with.
