Help! Deciding between select cars

hi guys,

i am hoping you guys can help in my current predicament while I am in search of purchasing my first new (well, used) car. I found a guy who is selling is 07 Acura TL - Type S with 64,000 miles for 18k. However, it does have a salvage title on it...

is this a good deal if i have it inspected and its good to go? secondly, what would be the resale value be later down the road (50% depreciated value?)

and do you know what the insurance quote will be on it? i spoke with a representative here in CA and it goes around 170 given my criteria, but would you see me having to pay an extra premium due to the title?

as always,

thanks guys !

personally id stay away from a salvaged title because they can be from a simple accident or from a major flood you never know.

yes insurance will be higher and resale will be in the shitter. I dont know how much prices are inflated in CA but yo can get a 2007 TL-S here in florida with a clean title for that price.

as a general rule of thumb, a salvage title vehicle is only worth 70% or less of what a clean titled car would be. Some insurance companies will not insure a car with a salvage title until they send someone out to do their own inspection.

blue book in my area is 19200, i wouldn't pay a DIME over 13,400 and that is if the thing is immaculate with all service records. I think 12K would be a decent deal. I say stay away though also. Resale value is terrible and salvage title comes with a whole host of problems.

John, you're probably walking in to more trouble than it's worth with this Type S.

I bought a 2002 Grand Prix that should have had a salvage title....The "CarFax" showed nothing in the way of accidents....so don't believe the Carfax either....
Stay away from "salvage" cars unless you know exactly why it was salvaged, and exactly what was done to repair it.
