I have a 2005 Acura TL 6 speed I don't recall it making a whining noise when I put it in gear and it gets louder in higher rpms and quieter with low rpms. I just purchased it about a month ago and I haven't checked the tranny fluid yet could this be the problem or is it the power steering because i just rebuilt the power steering with all new o rings. Any ideas?

 

Well if there was no whining before, and it started after you rebuilt the power steering pump, I would start there.

 

sounds like you pinched an o-ring trying to rebuild the pump.
or
you rebuilt the pump but left an original o-ring in there because likely couldnt get to it...and it's sucking in air.

 

Its been almost 2 weeks since i rebuilt the pump

it could be a leak I can't look right now I'm at work but it gets louder as i accelerate and when i take it out of gear i can't hear it.

 

did you bleed the air out of the PS system?

 

Super quick diagnostic test: Take it to a mall parking lot or dead end street and remove your serpentine belt altogether(only need a 14mm socket wrench on tensioner) and drive it a short distance to recreate the noise. No noise = look at the power steering pump again.
