i've been hearing a whining noise from the car engine when i start up my car. and as i turn the steering wheel, the noise become more noticeable. is this noise coming from the power steering pump? sounds like i need my power steering pump replace...... can someone confirm on this or help me diagnose the problem?

It's the o ring. The replacement will probably cost you less than a cup of coffee. You can do it yourself in about 15 minutes.

It's the o-ring. I had mine replaced a few months ago when it started getting cold and haven't heard it ever since.

I've had the same problem with the whining noise. As per this post I had my dealership replace the o-ring naff now it runs great. Think you for saving me more than a few bucks!
