I ordered a Red 2004 6MT Nav TL for MSRP and they wouldn't give me a trade-in value for my 2002 TL-S because they don't have a delivery date . Kelly BB has it listed at $21,800 for excellent condition but my guess is they'll apraise it at $21,000 with 13,000 miles on it. I have a possibility of selling it privately for 23-24K.

I am going to get the 2004 TL in the middle of the month. So I am trading in my 2002 TL-s. I think I am going to around $19500 to $20000. It has 32000 miles on it. My brother just trades in his tl-s for a new MDX today. The dealer gave him $19000 for his car, and his tl-s got 37000 miles with fair exterior condition.

I was quote $18,500 trade in on my 02-TLS no navi with 43k. New tires, brakes, great sondition, etc. BUT they wanted MSRP 9of course). I told them if they wanted retail for the 04 then they needed to give me something better than wholesale for my 02, as i owe $20k. Their response: No deal.
By the way - any one want to buy an 02 for $20k?

Well, I am picking up my 04 TL tonight after work, white, auto, non-navi. I can hardly wait. I also drove a 99 TL and ended up selling on my own for 15,000.00. The dealer would have only given me wholesale for it so I believe I did good. It only had 52,000 miles on it and was in excellent shape. The difference in the 04 and the 99 is significant and even though I paid MSRP for the 04, I feel the features of this car far outweigh the competition in the near luxury field.

I traded in my 2002 TL-P w/o navi with 33k miles on it. kbb says that it's worth $17500 on trade-in. Edmunds says that it's worth $19000 on trade-in, with private sale $20000. I traded happily for $18, 600. I know I could've gotten more if I just sold it myself, but a) I didn't have time and b) I simply think of what I didn't get as paying for convenience. Besides, I took off my TL-S wheels with tires and can make up a lot of the difference by selling them...will be available shortly.
I think you actually got a reasonable deal, Airdog.

I have a 2003 TLs with 17K miles on it. Dealer said they can't do anything on the 04 for me so I told them if they gave me $25K for my trade in, I'll take take the 04 too when I pick up my 04 MDX next week. They think I am crazy but hey.. at least I tried. I guess I'll wait 6 months when they no longer sell them msrp.

you are crazy. We just appraised an 03 TL-S with 2k on it and it only booked for 24K. And it will probably take longer than six months for the cars to come off of MSRP since a lot of dealers are going over MSRP already.

I am spending $75K at the dealership. All I was asking for was some discount since I am paying msrp on the TL and close to MSRP on the MDX. I do think that the car will sell under msrp in 6 months. You may think that the TL is a hot car right now but I don't know about where you live but I could go to at least 3 different Acura in my area and drive one home at msrp tomorrow. A lot of the TL are not spoken for.

You can't compare a Canadian trade in deal to an American one because the prices are so different. The difference is more than just the exchange rate. The new TL Canadian price in US dollars is about $30,200. Its a different car though. The base model has no hands free, no xm radio and no fog lights. Anyway the Canadian price is $40,800 Canadian and I got $28,900 on my 02 Type S whose original price was $41K. It had 29K kilometres or about 18K miles and was purchased in March 01 when they first came out. I don't know if that is a great deal or not. It was the best I could get. If I wait, I can probably get a discount but that would be offset by a reduction in the value of my trade.

As I have been in the market for new car recently.. I have gotten 21.4k for my '02-TLS w/ 30k miles on it (orig tires/brake/ replaced tranny) from domestic auto delarers. The average is about 20.8k, which is not bad for the area. However, when I talked to an Acura dealership about possibly upgrading to the 04 they said 16.9k!!! They gave the poor ol' song and dance about the 04 are going to be too hot and no one will buy the olders TLs so the dealer will probably have to auction them at wholesale.
I told them 'And how is that my problem? Maybe you need better used car salesman.' :thefinger: I promptly left the Acura dealership, no deal. why would I pay MSRP and then have you rape me in the @$$ on my trade? No car dealer should charge MSRP... it is such an inflated number with hidden dealer costs, hold-back, etc. They charge you holdback for a car that is delivered brand new! Talk about double-dipping... they get the holdback from you and then from the factory. That is an easy 2.4k on top of everything else. Sorry... rant over. You just can't bargain when a car is 'hot'

02 TL-S for $22K
Just traded my 02 TL-S...White, 25K miles for $22,000. At first they only wanted to give me $21,000 but I really harped on the fact that this was my 3rd Acura from the same dealership.
