Thumbs up The Green Machine has arrived PICS enclosed

Hello everyone,

I wanted to let you know I have received my 04 TL this week. You can see my pics using the hyperlink "view my photo gallery".

What did i order?

Green pearl / parchment interior
Navigation
Deck Spoiler
Mud guards
Body side moldings
Wheel locks
Shift knob

I was at the dealership for over 2 hours. The salesman showed all of the TL functionality and we went for a test drive. I thoroughly enjoyed my purchase.

Do I have any problems / issues?

1. I do have the slight vibration at 50-55mph, but only when the car is really cold. The vibration only occurs in the first 10 minutes of my commute when hitting 50 - 55mph. Earlier in the week it was 50 degree Fahrenheit and I immediately drove between 45 - 60mph and no vibration. This issue doesn't annoy me, but it apparently is bugging the sh*t out of the others.

2. trunk spacing. There is more spacing on the left handside then the right handside of the trunk. What I considered a noticable amount. The dealership indicated that they would try to fix this problem. I am confident dealership will adjust trunk.

3. Last issue, and this is the only one that annoy's me. Wrinkles in the leather of the passenger and one of the rear seats. They have what I call "excessive wrinkles". I know the salesman thought I was anal when I brought it up. I saw other TLs on the lot that had certain leather areas with excessive wrinkles. I have enclosed pics of the wrinkly leather. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? Try to get the seats fixed or replaced or I am just being anal.....

Those are my issues, and do feel they are very minor and will still be very happy with the purchase.

I have waited over 2 months and am now officially in the club!!!

My thoughts are if there are no wrinkles then the leather itself had to stretch out when you sit on it. But with wrinkles you have less worries. From the pictures I wouldn't say it was excessive (Only reason I even noticed 'wrinkles' was the pic title)

Re: The Green Machine has arrived PICS enclosed

I got the same color and combination as yours. Love it...

Your vibraion seems to be the flatspot issue, that's why it's gone after some mins' of drives.

Right side of truck has DVD Navi there... so I usually don't put anything above that...

Wrinkles leather is very noticeable in our parchment interior. You would see all of cars in the dealership showroom having this issue... lots of ppl said all good leather may have this problem... check BMW & MB, theirs are in the similar situation...

Once again... Congratulations...

Lightbulb Wood Shift Knob...

BTW, about "Wood Shift Knob", the day I got my car Acura didn''t provide it to my dealer yet. Do you think the color matches well with your wood interior? I'd like to add that on if it's smooth, handy, and color-matched.

Thanks...

I'd say it's kind of normal in all TL... I have more wrinkles in the driver seat's bolsters 'cause we are in and out more...

Hope your dealer would give you some satisfying answers.

The car looks great. I've never owned a car without leather and to me that doesn't look excessive. I've had cars with more wrinkles and some with less wrinkles. Remember leather is a real material, not BMW "leatherette", and the characteristics vary significantly. The only way to completely eliminate it is to go with plastic or cloth.

I think it gives the car character but thats just my opinion. If it really bothers you have them change the seat cushions.

You know, the green looks better than I thought. The leather doesn't look excessively wrinkled to me.

Enjoy your car!

Congratulations on your purchase!

I've got the same color combination; I think it's one of the better combos. I just "zainoed" mine last week and it's quite stunning looking right now; haven't taken it out in the snow/sleet yet.

Good luck with the new baby, pics look great. Love that crazy color. I pick up mine this Wednesday. Same color combo, sans spoiler and side mouldings. The leather looks ok. Like the man said it looks real. But, if it really bothers you talk to the service manager, he might have some solution.

I always worry that the fix is worse than the problem. I lived through that with a replacement winshield on a Z some years ago. Bothered me so much that I traded in the car.

Hey Gregory28, since I'm also in NJ and know what the weather has been like. how hard was it to put on the Zaino in this weather?

The car id GORGEOUS! Congratulations.

I think the "wrinkling" is fine! To me, it says "This is REAL leather" and not some imitation plastic stuff that can be made perfect. On some cars, you pay extra for the soft, folded leather door panels. Don't sweat it - it looks classy!

Per Sal Zaino, the temperature needs to above 45 degrees. Last Friday it was, and I zanoed that day. Go to www.zainostore.com and you can read all the various recommendations regarding Zaino products.

Rets,

The wood shift knob matches exactly as the wood grain around the navigations and doors. You won't be disappointed.

Like your Choices

Like your choice of cars!

We're even close on the colors.

Leather is leather, enjoy the wrinkles. Right after I got my MDX, a driver seat seam split open and my dog scratched the middle seat real bad. Acura made good on both. If the wrinkles develop into cracks in the next 4 years on either car you're covered. Keep them treated with conditioner; I use the Meguires cleaner/conditioner wipes on my MDX every few months and the seats look like new.

Enjoy your cars and be thankful you didn't buy something else.

Man, you are one of the lucky ones that don't have to deface the front of your car with an ugly license plate. Enjoy your car

I'm jealous now. You got the deck lid spoiler and wood shift knob where I did not. I did get the 18" wheels though.

They don't look "excessive" to me. I actually kind of like the wrinkles. That means you've got real leather, and not the cheap plastic stuff.

Leather always has wrinkles and small imperfections just because leather is a product of nature, and that is a part of what makes it so wonderful.

Enjoy your great car!

Let me bring your message to here...

Out of curiosity, do you ask for that lid over the trunk? It's from Acura... sorry, I didn't see anything else...

Hacksaw Hilliard,
I have seen pics of those 18s on your car and it looks sharp and aggressive. I guess with a name like Hacksaw you gotta go with the BIG WHEELs.

VTEC=Hapiness & rets,
What you are asking about is a deck spoiler. It is an option on the TL and I paid $410w/ installation.

Actually, my golf buddies gave me that name several years ago. During one two month stretch, I could not sink a 2 foot putt to save my life. :banghead: During one round, my partner watched me miss another one and out of frustration he yelled "why don't take a hacksaw to your putter!". By the time I got into the clubhouse, the entire men's club was calling me "hacksaw". Fortunately, I was able to cure myself shortly after.

bollywood21 - I was considering getting the wood shift knob as well. Your picture shows it to be a bit darker. Is it Acura's? Does it match better than the picture shows?

Also, I may end up with the Deep Green if the dealer can't get me my Desert Mist. I have read that there is a color mismatch between the platic bumpers and the metal sides in bright sunlight. Have you seen this?

Thanks!

My green doesn't have mismatch stuff. It's probably only on some early TLs, but mine is lucky without that issue.

I believe new one should have much mature technics.

I have an early build DGP, <500, and there's no mismatch in color between the bumpers and metal sides.

I just got a look at the original pics. I like the look of the “debadged” is there a trick to doing this? I’m still waiting on my TL to arrive, so I can’t take a look at the car. Did the dealer do this for you or are you able to remove them easily yourself?
