Great time had in the TL

So I am driving down Woodward in Detroit (the main strip of the city) and this lady in a Toyota gets all bent out of shape and tries to squeeze between me and a city BUS!

My driver side mirror gets bent all the way forward as she proceeds ahead screaming at me as she attempts to mess up my car. As my shock wears off, I realize that all I have to do is put the window down and bend it back into place (which enrages her more).

Then we start this jockying thing back and forth Detroit style...and suffice it to say that by the end of it all, I saw parts of Detroit that I wish I hadn't and that her sorry ass was not in front of me once. I pull into my garage, get out of the car and can smell the workout I gave the car...and had officially fallen in love with this kickin TL all over again.

Anyone else have other funny or rockin stories about experiences in their TL?

Since you brought it up, yes I do!!!

Had maybe 1,200 miles on my 07 TL-S when I was driving home from a Trap shoot. I was northbound on the FL T-Pike doing maybe around 75 mph. Just minding my own business, trying to pass a semi in the left lane when this 2000 honda accord comes right up on my ass. I didn't think much of it (normal driving habbits in S. Florida). Anyway, I get past the truck and I move over.

Well, this anus in the accord thinks he'll be cute and tries to pass me on the right when I'm already 2/3's over. I honestly didn't see him and as a result I kept coming over. I basically pushed him into the shoulder. He backed off and passes me in the left lane only to come in front of me and SLAM on his breaks. Shame I wasn't driving my 1997 Camry cause I'd have floored the G-dam car into his ass!!!!

Anywho.... This crap went on for about a minute, all the while he's throwing crap out of his car trying to hit my beloved TL-S(never did!). Well at this point I said, F-this. Floored it and blew past him. Lost him from sight at about 110. Slowed down to 90 only to have this puke catch up. Slammed on my brakes, he sling-shot a head. Then floored it as he tried to slow down.

Only problem was that my cell phone was dead, so I couldn't call FHP. Lucky for him, he gave up and kept going.

So did this bitch scrach your car??? I'd get her plate and have her arrested.

That story is a perfect example of how idiots seem to underestimate what the TL has going on! Right on.

She didnt scratch the car at all. I could see her eye looking at my driver side mirror as her car mashed it forward as far as it could go. It definitely looked like she had overextended it to me, and I am sure it did to her as well.

When I put my window down and pushed it back into it's rightful place, her eyes went from satisfaction to pure rage. She started chasing me but could not ever get in front of me. I would let her get along side my left rear quarter panel, only to leave her behind again.

The only bummer of that plan was I never saw the rear of her Toyota, and thereby didnt get an eye on the license plate either.

I took the TL through the HOOD of Detroit, up 375 and past the GM World Headquarters. Detroit is a rockin place for a drive because of how many expressways overlap each other and some of the neighborhoods where angels fear to tred!

How long you had your TL-S now?

*cough*

- Why did she get bent out of shape?
- Why do people in Detroit play bumper cars?
- Why do they give licenses to crackwhores?

Also note that no matter how pissed off you get, slamming on your brakes infront of one another is fucking retarded, and you're going to cause a major accident that will kill you or others around you.

You don't know how many times i've wanted to nudge the back of some assholes car and watch them spin out, but I haven't won the lottery yet so I cannot afford to do that.

Don't drive like an ass.

I was going to say the same thing... I almost had to kill this guy at stapes... I parked my newly washed car in the back 2/3 of the lot.. 4 open spaces and an ass parks his car next to mine. I walk up and he his door all way open getting something out of his car... His door is touching my car. I proceed to explain to him that he is retarded, I hate him, he is inconsiderate, and I hope he gets in an accident on the way home... He told me that it wasnt his car and he didnt do it.

I cleaned my door, and it really wasnt scratched but the dirt did transfer... He was worred that I was going to key his car or knife his tires (I wanted to stab his door though).

I couldnt drive cause I was SO pissed, so as my g/f drove out we saw him, I waved and we drove off really quick (to upset him). No we didn't screw with his car, but he was worried.

- Why did she get bent out of shape?
Because we both switched lanes at the exact same time into the same center lane. It was the day before Christmas Eve
- Why do people in Detroit play bumper cars?
Because we came up with the whole "car" thing, it is our right.
- Why do they give licenses to crackwhores?
Because my neighbor deserves to drive too!

I don't know. It really belongs in Ramblings or Car Talk but since you all are talking about stories in your TL, I'll keep it open for now.

I would strongly suggest that people try their damnedest to reign in their instincts to lash out at asshole drivers who do really dumb things to them. I say this because if you are caught, you will be viewed as one of the perps, or at least someone who helped precipitate the encounter. You could be in legal hot water.

And there is always the possibility that your antagonizer is deliberately goading you for more nefarious reasons. I have also been in these situations, but I just continue my travel and avoid getting into anything with people like this because I am armed nearly always. And because of this, I have a legal burden to act on a higher plane than do they. So always consider your options and your actions.

I feel your pain. I think the worst are the jerk offs that act as if it is your fault if you confront them about it by honking or flashing.

I was in the middle lane doing about 80mph and it was already 5am so traffic wasn't too bad I just going with the flow of everyone else trying to get to work. All of the sudden a white 2wd regular cab '80s Toyota pick up came flying by my right and cut me off. I flashed him and he flipped me off and threw something out of his truck. I flashed him again (bi-xenons lit that cab up like a close encounter) and he had the balls to brake check me lol. At 5AM that wakes you up, so I laughed and past him, he just kept giving me the finger and swerving at me I was just smiling.

I thought it was done, I got ahead and that was all of it. Back in the middle lane and he comes flying up on my ass and cuts me off again. My exit came up and I just got off. Five or six years ago I would've went all out by chasing him down and pulling over to the side, get out of my car with an aluminum bat, the whole nine.

What made me mad is I wasn't even in the far left lane when it happened. I should have just let it go, damn that ego. I'm a bit more level headed now, it's just not worth it to take the chance.

I have a few others, but this is the most recent.

as for stories... well here in nyc, civics think they are ferraris... if I had a dollar for every civic I had to floor it on I'd need rubber bands cuz it wouldn't fit in my money clip

Lastly... when I had like a week with my tl... an nbp with lip kits blacked out got on route 9 (which is henry hudson/west side highway) to us NYC peeps... long story short... my car wasn't broken in yet so I refused to race along the empty highway with him/her... and he/she taunted me to the point where I had to gun it a little... well stock type s vs wat appeared to be a dropped aspec nbp which clearly had an intake... SMOKED THE LIVING SH*T OUT OF ME... I still can't believe it to this day

the best thing is when some assclown does any ove the above mentioned things and then tries to pass you.....on a two lane road. With a bit of practice you can keep them out there for quite a while speeding up and slowing down watching them boil even more, praying the whole time that a cop will happen to see them trying to pass you

You can always call out your Detroit Acura Bro's!

Calling all from the D!

Most "scrapes" I've had, the people back off- it's because they know that NBP owner's show no mercy!

Last scrape was when we had the last ice storm. I was tooling down 696 in the second from right lane, at a comfortable 25 MPH ( freeway was solid ice ), when an asshole in a Camry flies by me at about 50, tail swings to the left, he nails the brakes, and ends up half in my lane looking at me. So now I can't go to the left-he's there, so I start going towards the right, where the guy who was tailgating me was going also. So I just kinda moved him over to the shoulder ( he was in a Vue) and I just kept going till the next exit. It took me 3 hours to make a trip that normally takes 45 minutes.

My Story when i was proud of my TL for the first time.

TL was just over 2000km. Took place in the night. One traffic light to another is about 1/4mile. I was second at the traffic light, right behind a new BMW 328i. These guys were blastin music and testing out their ride because i saw them before i got to this traffic light. Anyways these guys accell like crazy when the lights hit green and i was just watching them, after about 3 sec i went at it. By the time i reached 80km/h i was beside them and i was just watching them and after that i just kept on going. When i was close to my intersection where i had to turn i looked in the back and they were far far away and had stopped playing around. I was soo happy, both cars cost about the same in T.O. But i got way more out of it. Loved that moment.

And in Detroit, ALL the traffic laws go out the window. My ex-wife's family lived at Curtis and Livernois ( by U of D ) and it was always a trick driving to their house.

It was nothing to drive down 7 Mile between 75 and Woodward and hear gunshots ALL the time.

I give you that, but I doubt they are as clueless as Bay Area drivers. From my driving experience they have been the worst. At least you guys are experienced to all weather, Bay Area drivers panic and freeze the second rain hits.

You said it brother. I was driving back from the bar in Royal Oak (suburban Detroit) coming south on Woodward, and saw gunshots firing at 2AM just south of 7 Mile. Let's just say that the VSA kicked in. This city is gritty to live in for sure. I never leave my TL outside, or it will get flatbedded and BYE BYE
