Fresh tint...moleskin?

Ok, now before everything, I have searched about moleskins a lot on this website and still have a question. I got my tint done yesterday and it looks perfect and I want it to stay that way. The obvious choice is to now install moleskin but I have read posts about users experiencing glue streaks with moleskin when it is hot out. I live in southeastern Kansas close to the border of Oklahoma and the summers here get mid 90's to even breaking 100. You can even see that the heat has killed/thinned out most of our grass and it looks bad. Do all moleskin felts 'melt' in the heat? Or should I just skip the moleskin and just have my tint replaced under warranty for scratches over and over again?

And heres a picture of my newly installed 15% tint!

Double check about the scratching with your warranty. I recently did my tints and didn't know about moleskin and rear windows got scratched up. My warranty only covered bubbles/defects so ill have to redo them.

i bought felt from a crafts store..
took off my door panels.
once you're in the door panels you'll understand where and how to apply the felt.

Let me find the DIY.

I live in Central CT and it gets pretty hot here. Hit 100 and above a few times this year, nor me, or my brother, or my cousin all of whom have 3g TL's with tint's and moleskin's installed by the same guy have had any issues.

alright thanks everyone for your input, ill get the moleskin and try to do it myself. are there any certain types of moleskins that are better than others? I read there are different quality types but i dont remember where or when i read that. And VQPower37, I would suggest 15% if the cops are leinent in your area. I have had many people compliment me on how it looks and visibility at night is not as bad as you might think, its very managable.

I've always done 15% or 5% - Yes both are dark...Looking at the car you wont notice a difference if the interior is black. I think on my TL (saturday is when I am getting tinted) I am going with 35/20...just a little lighter to keep the classy look of the TL...

Goes on the inside of the door panels to prevent the parts from scratching the tint...

Its not 'fur' - its just a felt that is named moleskin.

They are referring to the glue that holds the felt on melting and sticking to the tint...

Not to sound crazy, but if you are worried about the moleskin coming of and causing glue streaks, apply a tiny dot of crazy glue every few inches and at the ends so it won't peel off and allow the glue to come in contact with the tint.

I installed the moleskin and encountered the glue streaks. I used the instructions from the site, but didn't read it carefully. There was an edit about not cutting the moleskin and just leaving it in one piece. Apparently the cutting of the moleskin into two strips causes the streaks. I can't say if not cutting it prevents it, so you'll have to figure that out. One good thing is that the glue streaks went away after awhile and that it was an easy clean up when it came up. Very easy install. Good luck!

Good tip that I didn't think about! (I'm not worried about that but for those that are...)

BTW: Go Gators! Brantley needs to step up his game and I am glad that Rainey is back! They looked much better on Saturday!

You used the instructions from what site? Did you buy actual 'moleskin' or did you just buy felt from a crafts store?

Had the moleskin installed by the tint place and have had no problems with glue streaks. Worth it to avoid the scratches.

Noticed on your tint job that the small rear window area isn't covering the whole glass?

That or some people have gotten mad enough to the point of sanding the rubber, using alcohol to clean it off, then apply glue and moleskin to get it to stay on forever! Others choose to just remove the wipers and deal with the extra noise.

As far as the football team, they are nowhere near where they want to be, but are working to get there. The problem is the Offensive coaches predictability (students wanted his head at the last few home games) and as well the kicker hurting himself over and over again and us relying on the backup. Adding to the whole mess, the season is like the 2005 one, the team is figuring how to mesh together properly to work well. I'm betting that the Gators get to the SEC championship in 2011.

From this site, Here is the link. Pay attention to the edit about not cutting the moleskin in GREEN. That was my mistake.

http://www.acuraclubsa.com/DIY/moleskindiy.htm

I bought my moleskin on eBay. Just searched on eBay (moleskin acura tl).

Moleskin Here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Acura...Q5fAccessories

I installed my moleskin long ago and i've been pretty certain that all these people with glue streaks installed the moleskin wrong. Basically, the less you cut it the better, hell some people buy a large piece of felt and drape the entire rubber blade with it.
