Fog Lights!!!!!
Fog Lights!!!!!
Just curious if anyone else have problems with them?!? I mean they work and all... But, I just don't like the look of them right next to my HID! I'm so used to seeing fog lights towards the bottom of the front... Anyone use them?! I have been keeping them off since I didn't like they way it looked in combo of the HID... Also, any problems keeping the HID on during the day? Lately, I've been finding myself keeping them on (looks cool!)...
there isnt a problem, but your HIDs will not last as long, since you are using up the hours during the day too. but they last pretty long in general, so i dont think you should worry about it.

Some people on this forum have discussed installing separate fog lights in the front spoiler section but I think the concensus is that they don't want to fuc* with the CAI section of the front spoiler.

I agree with tripp11. I used my "foglight" when they're needed, in rainy day or in country-side roads, etc. The current foglight may not aim right, but it still extends the fair amount of luminosity toward the front in addition to our HID.
If we talking about where to mount the new foglight from the bottom of the front fascia, you will find an inlet of the 04TL CAI has occupied itself with the ideal location.

Click it if no pic...
Except you get some particular models of foglight with smaller size and enough brightness, it's hard to fit under CAI's inlet. Otherwise, you have to relocate that CAI toward the middle of the front and make a fair space for your bulk of foglight.
Or you could put the foglight in the middle of the front, this doesn't look good though.

Someone may say this CAI with the inlet is useless... yes, you may remove them all.
This is what Acura says about... believe or not.
COLD-AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM
Cool air is denser than hot air and allows an engine to make more power by packing more oxygen per given volume. To capitalize on this fact, the TL has a special cold-air induction system as standard equipment. Ambient air is picked up through an inlet in the left front fascia, and fed by a duct to the engine air intake. Depending on vehicle speed, this system supplies the engine with ambient air that is much as 15 degrees F. cooler than typical engine compartment air.
A new low-restriction induction system improves breathing in the new TL. In addition to providing more aggressive sound under acceleration, this new system flows 40 percent more air than the system in the '03 TL, and about four percent more than in the '03 Type-S.

As far as the fog lights, I suppose even though it wouldn't look great without some custom bumper fitting, you could put 2 really close between like some trucks do...
Check Garage, there are two or three threads having CAI pictures and info, by Aegir and Bitium.

I hardly ever use the fogs, but went with Silverstars for a beter look. Using fogs when they are not needed (which is 90% of the time), can actually reduce your night vision, as the reflected light off the road causes your pupils to contract, reducing depth perception.
Driving with fogs on in the rain compounds the siituation, and causes more glare to others. Use them for what they were intended - int he fog, or perhaps more likely, for driving on back roads where seeing things int he nearfield (animals, road signs, mailboxes, and people) can be tough.
Nothing worse than someone driving with fogs on all the time just to attract attention or cause they think it is cool. To me, it is not cool, it is retarded. But what do I know? - I could be wrong! (Like Dennis Miller, nod/wink).

I heard u... :sqnteek: Only in foggy rainy days...
I thought fog lights are suppose to be mount low to the road, and should be able to be used without the normal headlights. Normal headlight shine to high under foggy or snowy conditions and the light reflect the fog/snow which in turn decreases your ability to see. With the fog lights being mounted low (without headlights being on), it illuminates the road surface and not the fog/snow as much. It would be nice to be able to turn the foggers on with just the running lights on!
Integrated fog lights...
The design is a cost saving move by Honda.
Integrating the fogs into a single headlight/turn signal/fog lamp module reduces part count and simplifies vehicle assembly which reduces total assembly time and cost. Little things add up.

It is illegal in many states to run fog lights with just the parking lamps.
Also, fog lamps in rain can cause more glare to you and others, since that bright light relfected back to your eyes from a short distance can cause the iris to close, reducing depth perception at distance.
I find they are useful mainly in heavy snow, where you want a low cut-off. But the TL headlights are so good, I'll bet they do fine in the snow. They are as good as the projectors in the S2000, but my garage queen has never seen rain, let alone snow. Sissymobile.
