I just don't have the best luck with this car. Today I remote started my car and left it in gear :p... I never forget to leave it in neutral but for some reason I did today. The damage wasn't that bad I was parked in my drive way and backed in to my dads SUV. The hood has a ding on the front and it bended a lil. Let me know by the pictures if I will need a new hood or if this is fixable. Sharing website is down so here are the links. Sry.

Sometimes PDR can take those dents out .. maybe they can flex the hood down too.

Ugh....remote start installed on a manual There is a reason why its illegal for shops to install remote starts on a manual tranmission car. It was bound to happen at some point...and it will happen again. Imagine if someone was standing in front of your car...I wont go into details ;-)

that might be a bit more involved than PDR. A shop is going to need to fix the shape of the hood since it's been bent up a little bit.

It's common practice to put the car in gear esp if you are on a hill but with a remote start you can't risk that.

i think its a fine idea i use to have it on my manual civic, i never once had that happen to me in the 5 yrs of ownership....it just takes the owner to know how they parked their car, for me i never leave my cars in gear even my manual TL now its always in N. Just be more careful next time because he does have a point what if someone was in front of it

I say never leave a manual In "n"

I did it on my 6spd accord and it rolled down the hill and hit my brothers BMW x5

Sucky situation. And yes I did have the brake up ALL the way.

I took it to a body shop $150 to bend the hood back. And $600 for that lil dent! Because our hoods are double plated and there's no way he can get under that to remove the dent?!.. So he has to pull it out thru the outside and by drilling 3 holes than fixing that area and painting.

what Starter are you using? Compustar has a pretty good system for manuals where as it won't turn off the car until it's in neutral, you got out and hit the lock button the remote. This way it ensures you are in neutral as no one would get out of a running car in gear :P

Sucks to hear, happened to my uncles civic. He was in the hospital, my dad drove his car and parked it at the hospital for him but my dad left it in gear. When uncle was leaving hospital he remote started it and it jumped in to a post (front bumper, hood and lights had to be changed but was claimed under insurance)

put a turbo timer in your car so when you shut it off you wont be able to leave it in gear cause the car keeps running for a couple minutes after you shut it off immpossible to leave it in gear after that and they are cheap as hell

The remote starter comes with a function for manuals, but I told my installer to install it as an automatic car because for manual you have to do 3 steps before you get out your car and that's annoying.
