Fan & radiator assembly

Hi All,
Just noticed today while I was cleaning up the engine compartment that the Fan and radiator assembly could be moved for about one inch back and forth as if it's loose. Is this normal?

mine does as well...i was just wondering if anyone has come to a definite conclusion about this issue? seems like there are holes at the top sides to install some sort of plug
